How old are you? If you are still a teenager, maybe you need to think about how you act when he's around. If you act like one of the guys, he'll see you as one of the guys. Try acting more "girly" when he's around.
Do you know how to flirt? If you do, flirt with him a little. Not anything ridiculous, but try something like, "I really like that color shirt on you." or, " That was an amazing shot you made during the basketball game." If you start acting more like a girl, he'll notice that you're a girl. Touch his arm for a second when you're talking to him quietly, and then take your hand away. Lean closer when he talks to you, and make eye contact. If he crosses his legs, cross yours. If he tilts his head to one side, tilt yours. It sounds silly, but if you do a little bit of this stuff it will make him become aware of you in a different way. Wear a little make-up if you don't right now, and a little perfume too, or switch to a new scent, or new eyeshadow. He won't know what's different, but he will sense the difference. Also, talk to him about girls. Ask him what he thinks is attractive in a girl. When he tells you, you can then tell him what you find attractive in a guy, and you can make a point of describing him. If he acts amused and receptive when you say "I like tall, skinny guys with curly dark hair and big brown eyes." then keep going, and describe what he's wearing. The worst thing that will happen is that he'll think your teasing him. The best thing is that he will tell you he thinks you're cute too!!

Okay. I've just recently been in this situation so I'll give you all the help I can on this...
Firstly, you have to tell him. It's worse if you keep it all inside yourself, it makes you crazy.
When you're ready, sit him down and have a mature conversation about how you feel. I wouldn't say that you love him just yet, cause that will totally freak him out, so just say you've begun to have feelings beyond those of a friend or something of that nature. Also, if he doesn't respond the way you want to, make sure he knows that you've told him this because you wanted him to know, you weren't expecting him to say it back and you still want things to remain the same between you to. Also, maybe you could like say to him some of the reasons why you like him? E.g. I said to mine that 'you're a good listener and you've always been there for me when I needed you.'
If he feels the same way about you then good luck to both of you :). If he doesn't, it's not the end of the world! If he's a true friend of yours, he'd want to remain your friend. And, who knows, maybe something could develop between you two.

I hope this has helped in any way and good luck!

Does he like you in that way as well? Talk to him about it and you may well end up dating him. And if you guys are realyl good friends and you break up, then it shouldnt be that big of a deal and ruin your friendship with each other. You'll know each other too well. But then again, things could get a little akward, depending on how far you two got. But who knows, it may not turn out that way. Just talk to him about your feelings and you guys might end up a couple.

Dating a friend will most likely end up in ruining the friendship. Leave it alone.

This is real tricky. You need to find out how he feels about you without letting him know how *you* feel.
Have a third person nonchalantly ask him about you and his feelings toward you. See what he says and take it from there.
