If you shave, use a cream or gel called bikini zone which is sold at Walgreen's. It gets rid of the bumps and razor burn. I've been using it for years.

Don't shave all your pubic hair, you don't want to look like a little child.

I use shaving cream and then apply a product called Bikini Zone after I shave. It works great. The other option could be laser it off, but it takes 2-3 treatments to get all the hair removed, and can cost upward of $500 for each treatment. My roommate took this route, and loved it and said it was worth every penny!!

If you are looking for no razor burn with shaving, you need to use a good (ie: expensive) razor and a good shaving gel. I like the Venus razor and Satin Care shaving gel.
If you are looking for non-shaving methods, you could look into waxing or something like Nair.
Also, a lot of people have mentioned that Bikini Zone works well for razor burn, or to prevent it.

If you shave EVERY day then after about a month or so, your skin won't be as sensitive and you won't get those razor bumps. Also, try an upscale adult "toy" store.. they often have special shaving creams especially for pubic area that claim to reduce razor bumps.

i am a guy but i also shave, if you don't want to just trim and want completely smooth, the use hair conditioner instead of a shaving cream/gel. Just like it does for the hair of your head, makes it softer will do the same for the pubic region and wont irritate the area.

If you don't want to wax, you must use a very good (sharp razor), non-fragranced soap, and hot water. Go slowly and don't shave against the growth until you have gotten all the visible hair off.

Also, use hydrogen peroxide afterward and it will take the irritation away quickly.

Laser or waxing. It takes persistence, time, and money. And patience.

None of these are really "effective" in my mind, however, as the hair still returns. Effective to me would mean "goes away forever without further effort."

Waxing or using the hair removal cream that you can get a Walgreens, Long Drugs, Rite Aid, Kmart, or Target.

Get Nair or Veet.

Shave with a new razor, Aveeno shaving cream, and immediately afterward, coat area with Neosporin.

You may be irritated the first time, but if you continue to shave every other day, your skin gets used to it.
