Typically most engagement rings fit into the accompanying wedding band. Before I got married my husband-to-be took my engagement ring and had the jeweler put the two pieces together permanently. Then on our wedding day I got them both back together as he placed them on my finger. I like it better, the ring is one, not two pieces and much sturdier. Congratulations!

No. Prior to the wedding ceremony the bride should be wearing the engagement ring on her right hand. During the ceremony the groom places the wedding band on her left hand and the engagement ring is then moved over to the left hand as well. Some brides choose to remove the engagement ring and the groom places both rings on her left hand during the ceremony.
Either way - the important thing about the day is the marraige that follows...the wedding itself is just a party and should be viewed as such. Drinks will be spilled, flowers will wilt and something is bound to be "ruined". Enjoy the party and make the union your own buy forgetting the "rules" and doing what you like best!

The engagement band is removed prior to the ceremony - the groom then uses the wedding band and puts it on your finger during the ceremony. After the ceremony, you can put the engagement band back on as well. Some brides wear the engagement band on the opposite hand because they don't want it left laying around during the ceremony.

The most common (and what is recommended in many wedding books) is for the engagement ring to be removed before the wedding ring is placed on the bride's finger during the ceremony. Most books and magazines suggest that the bride wear her engagement ring on the other hand until after the ceremony. She could also remove it during the ceremony, but that's one more thing to try to remember.
It's really up to the bride and groom, though - there's no one way that anything SHOULD be done in a wedding anymore. (But it never hurts to know the "rules," and then you can decide to break them or not.)
Congratulations!

You should go to the ceremony with a bare hand, the one that will get the wedding band. The groom will place it on your finger at the ceremony. You either don't wear your engagement ring, or wear it on the other hand, then after the ceremony you can put the engagement ring on overtop of the wedding band where it belongs, or do it later.

The bride should take her engagement ring off. Since the wedding ring goes on the bottom, closest to the heart. You can either put both on during the ceremony or you can just put the wedding ring on, that is entirely up to what she wants to do.

That depends. I have been to weedings were the bride had her engagement ring on and she just had the groom put the wedding band over that.
I have also been to weddings where the bride had taken off her engagement ring so that the groom could only have the wedding band on it.
So, to me, it depends. Personally, I would like to put the wedding band over the engagement ring.

I had my wedding ring and engagement rings attached together, so they were both put back on for the ceremony, but I think the proper response is the engagement ring stays on and then the wedding ring is placed with it during the ceremony.

Do not waer your engagement ring to the wedding ceremony. The wedding ring is the most important and should be worn first on the finger. After the ceremony, you should wear the engagement ring outside the wedding ring.

I've seen it done both ways. It's completely your choice. I left my engagement ring on and my husband just put the wedding band on over the wedding ring. Congratulations!
