Not quite hopeless. Here is your problem. She is a friend, and she doesn't want to risk the friendship. She may also not be ready for a serious relationship, especially if it runs the risk of ruining a friendship if the relationship goes badly.

Back off, you are scaring her. You both sound young, and have your entire lives ahead of you.

The best thing you can do is to casually, not necessarily intimately, date a few other girls, so you can develop skills of how to deal with women. They really are quite different, and if you keep a journal of how women respond to different stories or activities, you can develop the skills you need for all kinds of relationships, including student, employee, and all the other roles you will occupy in life.

Remain friends with her, and as you learn how to be entertaining to a wide group of females, you will be having more fun, and will be more fun to be with. Don't try to make this one jealous, and don't get jealous of her.

Try to have 10 social activities with several women each month. It can and should be simple and inexpensive activities. Don't let the environment overwhelm the opportunity to get to know the woman you are visiting with. Learn to communicate with several women, and you will be better prepared to communicate with the woman who is best for you.

Good luck to you.

Sorry to tell you that this was my story about 7 or 8 years ago. So what is my story? Here it goes. This girl that was friends with me I thought we were cousins cause our parents knew each other since we were kids and got to see each other every now and then. One time we both ended up going to the same birthday party but this time was different. This time that I got to see her I first realized that she was all grown up I think you know what I'm saying. I'm not saying that I wanted her all of a sudden for her body but it was because this time she was just flirting with me and we took a walk and she was just glowing with beauty. After that we started talking more often on the telephone and one day I told her that I liked her and we should go out as friends but that I was starting to like her alot. She must have felt the same way because one time when she called for me my mom picked up the phone and she said to my mom " Holla suegra, como estas?"
That is spanish for Hi mother of my husband ( I can't think of the word in English sorry). My mom was so excited and gave me the phone with my friend girl just giggling saying oh my god did you hear what I just called your mom? Anyway she did like me for sure and that is were the mushy feel good story ends and the truth begins. Even though she never told me we both knew the reason we never got to go out together was because her dad was overprotective of his little girl. Even though she did give me hope one day and ask if I would take her to the Prom when she graduated which was 2 years away, the one thing that held her back from me besides her father was that she said she did not like that I was about 2, 3, years older than her.So to make a long story even longer I'll give you the real dose of reallity. I finished school and tried out the Marines while she finished school a year early and by the time I got back home(I didn;t make it in the Marines) she had gone off to try to persue her dream of singing professionally. Well now to today, she is in a group of 3 women and she they have 3 albums out and my friend girl was in the 3rd one as the newest member but I have never heard her sing even though I have had a chance to hear the cd. So sorry to say that girls do get away and it happens for a reason other than you were too scared to show your true feelings. P.S. girls seem to flirt with you and not even know why all of a sudden you are so into them. Take that as a lesson my young Jedi friend.

Forget her. She will find a dude who will treat her like dirt. You tried. When you find someone else, she will be jealous. Move on and keep her as your best friend.

No. Tell her about it and work it out. If you're old enough, go out and have some champane, if you do drink.

give her some space to absorb it in because otherwise she is going to be annoyed by you and you might lose her out of your life forever.
