anyone one who finally wakes up and realizes that they are only sacrificing themselves for oil compaines to rake in billions has my vote for saint hood regardless of what happens to them...... this is not a war!!!!!!! it is an attempted corporate take over of oil reserves and blatant corporate greed lead by the white house or should I say the red house with all the blood smeared on it hourly..... how many more must die for this greed before we are done with it?

First of all a GI is risking his life just joining the military to fight for our country and other countries rights. So he is already braver than most in our world. Second of all, war is very complicated and very messed up. Even if we are doing the right thing for the right reason, you will always have people warping its meaning and its merit. I cant imagine seeing all the death and hate and distruction our men and women in military see every day over in Iraq. Just ask a few of our WWII vets or Veitnam vets how hard it is returning to a normal life after your worst nightmares have happend, after your friends have been blown up in front of your eyes and you are wiping their blood off your face, and ask them about becoming an adult by having to kill women and children for your own protection. No, i do not believe he or any like him are cowards. May they all rest in peace finally , a soft quiet peace

This sort of occurrence is a rarity and possibly a sign of mental issues not directly related to the war. Either way, you sign on the dotted line, you agree to go through it all, good and bad. Millions have in the past and more will in the future. This isn't a statement on the war or it's value, but more a statement on the mental condition of the individual involved. No rope is long enough to tie them together in my opinion.

this is a lie...the gi's you are referring to had criminal charges against them the military does not shoot someone who is awol or refuses to deploy...they start action for a discharge or re-assignment and depending on the reasons you can get a medical, general, dishonorable or honorable discharge. there is also the objector option too. the process takes about 6 months but once you apply you are in 'limbo' until its decided. also if someone gets 'religion' and decided they no longer believe in bearing arms they can be reassigned to a non-combat position and not even have to leave the army. you are responsible for the information you print and before you go printing it make sure you have it correct....lies can hurt or even kill ppl.

I don't think coward is the right word. Its sad that they were killed, but they volunteered to serve in the military. They took and oath and swore to God and country that they would defend it and obey their orders. It is their own fault for getting killed. The police offers were just doing their job and they were lucky to get out of the situation with out being shot themselves.

Veterans have seen horrors in war, that us civilians couldn't even imagine. Soldiers, like everyone else, are only human. Some of them "wash out" and just cannot handle the stresses of combat. I don't think it makes them a coward- they still served our country, for that- they are still heroes.

Don't ever call any service member who has been to Iraq a coward. You have no idea what it's like out there.

They have thier own reasons, I do have to wonder why they ever enlisted if they did not want to fight, not a single person in any military unit was drafted or enlisted when there was no war.

There is no excuse for not being willing to serve your county

Anyone who volunteers to join the military and then violates their oath is a coward. Plain and simple. They think of themselves and not others. They did not think about the policemen or the policemen's families when they opened fire on them.

Good riddance to bad rubbish!

So are you blaming the police?Lets not forget, when people enlist its voluntary and its their job to do what the govt tells them. They cant handle war,he shouldnt have enlisted should he?Military is not a free ride for college and it was his stupidity if he thought so.I appreciate his service for our country, yet I have no sympathy for those who chose not to do the job they were hired and volunteered to do.Weren't you hired to do your job?Wouldnt you get fired for not doing it?
