My daughter is 19 months. She is in size 18 Months for her shirts, but the pants are too big in the waist. 12 Month sizes for pants are too short. Where can I buy online or in stores that offer slim sizes ?

I don't think they make slim sizes until size 5. I too have a slim child (15 mo, but size 24 mo. in body length and 9 or 12 mo. in waist/width). I have found that certain brands are slimmer than others, and within those brands, there are factors that affect width as well.

I always buy full-elastic waists, vs. just the back being elastic. Carters seems to be not as wide as OshKosh, I like Old Navy and Childrens Place as well.

A helpful thing for me is to carry a pair of pants in the diaper bag that fit my son in the waist. I use them as backups if I need to, but can compare pants I'm shopping for against them to see how wide the new pants are. I won't buy pants that are more than half an inch wider when the waist is held straight against my "model" pair.

Is your daughter potty-trained? Toddler sized clothing is sized to allow for a diaper, so if she is potty-trained, that may be the "problem", or like many kids, she may just have a slimmer build. My 4 year old has the same problem of pants being either too big in the waist or too short. The solution I have found is to buy the ones that fit in the waist and then sew on a wide, pretty ribbon on the bottoms of the legs. This creates a really cute pair of pants that fit in both the waist and the length. Good luck to you.

My daughter is 2 1/2 and is skinny and tall. Her waist size was 18 months and her length was 24 months. I had this same problem! So I asked, they had suggested The Children's Place. We took her there and tried on the 24 months size jeans and they are perfect and she still has room to grow. They have that adjustable waist. Those types of jeans are becoming more available now which is great! One store starts selling them, and the others always follows. And by the way, they are reasonably priced at 11.00 per pair, only if you buy two pair. Regular price is 14.50. ( I bought four pairs.)

It got really bad to where she would be walking around and her pants would fall down. I felt so bad!!

One other thing, she is potty trained, so she wears regular underwear, not a diaper.

My daughter is the same way. She is 2 now, mostly in size 24 months or 2T tops, and right now in 18 month pants. We've had the same problem, as she is smaller for her age. Her pants are just now starting to get too short, but still fit her waist. I've only found that certain pants fit better than others. One particular pair of jeans fit her the best, they are Arizona brand from JCPenney. They have an elastic waist and heart pockets on front. Also, I just got her a pair of sweat pants at Toys R Us that are 24 months, but fit her perfectly. Not too long, and snug at her waist. In fact, she has a few pairs of sweatpants that fit her waist just fine.
I would just try different clothes. You will pretty much learn by looking at them which pants will be too wide in the waist, and which ones may not be. It's pretty much trial and error, until you find what works for you.

My 2 year old wears sizes 12-18 months clothes for the length but his waist is only the size of a 6 month old (32 inches tall and 20 pounds)!!

I take the waist in on all of the pants/shorts I have to buy him. There are no slims yet for little ones (Hello clothing manufacturers?!) and it's a struggle for me as well. The pants always look a little funny in the back; I have tried taking them in at the waist on either side, but it looks like he's got handles!! LOL

Adjustable waists are OK, but you can only adjust them so much. I find that mass market clothing tends to run large (Target, Wal-Mart, KMart, etc.), so I stick with brand names like French Toast, Oshkosh and Carter's, purchasing them when they are on sale at the department stores like JCPenney and Macy's.

Good Luck to you!!

My son is quite slim, but is wearing pull-ups. Some of his pants are too big in the waist, but are the right length. I fold the waist over in the back and use a diaper pin to hold it.

I also have the same problem with both of my toddlers (ages 2 and 3). I buy adjustable-waist pants at Old Navy. I also put them in lots of overalls.

My 18 month old son is the same way, tall and skinny. We've resorted to taking in the waist of the pants so they fit better.

T is for toddler. I even have on no account considered in basic terms a length 3, its continually 3T whilst it says 4 or 5 it is the subsequent section, in many circumstances whilst they are out of diapers, the clothing are minimize smaller and longer. for whilst maximum young toddlers loose that toddler chub. and all providers outfits are minimize in yet in any different case. they have sizing charts on maximum web pages so which you would be able to bypass with the aid of top and weight. What length is he/she in now? no count if it relatively is 24 months then you definately might probable bypass with a 2T, a 3T could be thank you to big and long. no count if it relatively is eighteen months you wont be able to bypass to the T's yet.

Typically, most major department stores carry some slim sizes, but they usually don't start until toddler sizes, some not until about 4T. You can try JCPenny, Sears, Younkers, Kohl's, and Dillard's. You can also go for the adjustable waist bands, almost all places carry those now, Gap, Oldnavy, Walmart, Target, you name it. I have the same problem with my children they are both tall and very thin.

These have an adjustable waistband and are adorable:
