I had several of those! What you have to do is (yes, steriotypical, I know... but) go to the doctor, and he/she should give you antibiotics. They should clear up in about a week!

Mine was an infected "sweat" gland in the armpit. I had it lanced six mos ago and it is still red. I had a follow up on it a month ago and he said I could wait for the redness to clear or do a more drastic surgery; which would leave a scar. I DONT want a surgery on it so I'm living with it.

That is infected if you hurt that bad. Also, do not touch it until you see a doctor. The doctor will debreed it, which is draining, and clear it out. He will put you on an anti-biotic. Right now, please do not touch it and either call your doctor or go to the emergency room. You mess with it and worse things can and will happen. In order for the pain to ebb, you have to get it checked and drained. For the meantime, put a lukewarm wet rag on the area with no pressure.

It may be caused by Hidradenitis Suppurativa. You can check out http://www.hs-usa.org for more info and to see if anything sounds familiar.
In the meantime, warm compresses will help bring it to a head and eventually it will burst. Don't squeeze it or cut it open. If it is really hurting that badly, you may wish to go to the doctor to have it lanced.

Try warm compresses to see if it will open on it's own. If it doesn't open on it's own then you may need to see the doc to have him lance it for you.

you have to cut it open, drain it, and dig out the root from your skin, best if left up to a Doctor.
