Consumer Reports did a survey on religion, this was their finding:
Christianity- This is by far was the most popular belief among the aborigines people, with more than 2 out 4 preferring it. The concept of a loving god, was easy to understand, since it bore some semblance to their god “Khatimi” , the god of 'big shiny things'. This belief was so favorable among the tribesmen that a few even made a small donation to the Robert Schuller Ministries at the end of their two weeks trial.
Catholicism- A close second, it nearly did as good as Christianity, if it not for a few confusing ritualistic beliefs. The tribesmen enjoyed the Pope, after we were able to show them rare footage of His Holiness giving Easter Mass in the Aboriginal language of drum thumping.
Hinduism- This was a distant third. Most tribesmen had a difficult time comprehending the perpetual birth and rebirth concept. Majority of the tribesmen also found the movie Gandhi to be way too long, with Candice Bergen’s performance substandard and trite.
Buddhism- Buddhism did not fare well among the tribesmen. Most found the notion of Buddha as god, not to be credible. With many questioning how can a god control the world, when he can’t even control his weight? Most of the tribesmen preferred Jesus who had a slender and slightly muscular body.
Muslim- Although not very popular it did appeal to a few of the aborigines.Ironically the few tribesmen who chose the Muslim religion soon got into an altercation with those who preferred Judaism. The dispute was over the territorial right of the grass hut in which they were living. The tribesmen who choose the Muslim religion claimed they were in it first..
Judaism- This religion was very confusing to most. From proper attire, ritualistic conduct, and Kosher food, left most of the aborigines baffled and perplexed. With one of the tribesmen eating a Dreidel out of confusion.
Satanism- Chosen only by few. Although many of the tribesmen could relate to sacrificing of animals to a higher power. This is due to a common practice of sacrificing small rodents to their evil god “Khulli” the god of the 'itchy rash.’
Atheism- Although ranking high on our scholarly section, this belief was not preferred by any of our testers. The concept of life being meaningless and with no hope of an after life, left most of the tribesmen desponded and depressed, with a few actually needing short term therapy, after the four week trial.
Recommendations- If you are looking for a good over all religion you can’t go wrong with Christianity. It ranked the highest among the tribesmen and very high in our scholarly test. If you prefer no ritualistic practices bestowed upon you, atheism is the right belief for you, even though it ranked very low on independent tests. If you prefer a lot of rules and customs take a look into Judaism, or the Muslim religions.

There is good and bad in all religions. However, I prefer religions that provide teachings related to Moses and Jesus. Also, I believe that the following Scriptures related to the devil and God may all be true:
- Satan can perform lying signs and wonders.
Exodus 7:9-11; 8:17-19; Deuteronomy 13:1-5;
- "Serpent." Genesis 3:1-4 -
- He is a king (Revelation 9:11), and his is a dominion of darkness (Acts 26:18; Ephesians 6:12; Revelation 16:10).
- His motives are destructive. John 10:10; 1 Peter 5:8
- To hinder the work and the Word of God.
Daniel 10:12, 13; Mark 4:15; 1 Thessalonians 2:18
- To "deceive the nations." Revelation 12:9; 20:3, 8
- To afflict man. 2 Corinthians 12:7
- Physically. Job 2:1-8; Matthew 9:32, 33; 12:22; Mark 1:26, 9:17, 20, 25 Luke 9:42; 3:11
- Mentally and spiritually. Judges 9:23; 1 Samuel 16:14; 18:9-11; 19:9; 1 Kings
18:26-28; 22:22; 2 Chronicles 18:20-22; Matthew 4:24; 17:15; Mark 5:5, 15, 18; 9:22; Luke 8:27, 35, 36; 22:31, 32; John 8:44; 10:10; 13:27; Acts 16:16; 19:16; 2 Corinthians 11:3;
1 Timothy 4:1
- Ephesians 6:11, 13 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.... Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." James 4:7 "
- Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. Colossians 2:15; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 3:8
- "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works
of the Devil." Genesis 3:15; Colossians 2:5; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John
Read my question "Do you think the birth of the Red Heifers born in the 1990's is proof that the Messiah is coming soon?" There is an important message for everyone.

the answer to this question will lead you to the #1 religion:
Who established the religion, man or God?
If it was man-made, no matter how you put it, that religion will not bring you to Him because He did not establish it.
So now, think. What is the ONLY religion in the world that claims to have been established by God? Established meaning, He went down here and made fishers of men?
KVC: during the early times, the printing press wasn't invented yet. even the words that are in the bible now were first spoken, THEN written. so if the bible is the only path to salvation, are all the people before the time of mass production of books, not saved?
also i ask you, where in the Bible does it say that salvation is found ONLY through the Bible? Yes one passage will say that all scripture is good....but it doesn't say that scripture is the exclusive path to God.

What a stupid question. Everybody who has a faith is going to say theirs. Religion stinks none are good at all. You name one single religion that is the best, just one and I'll tell you that its a complete waste of time.
I'm a Christain myself but I'm not a religious person, instead I have a relationship with the Lord God almighty and its the best anyone can ever have. Why?
1: Because Jesus is the Son of God
2: He died on the cross for all mankind
3 He came back to life again to give us life.
4 Jesus is still alive
5 He's coming back one day
6 If we ask him he will forgive all our wrongs because he died for us all
7 He know we aren't perfect yet he still accepts as we are
8 Forgiveness is just one of many rewards fo know Jesus in your heart:
a Love
b joy
c peace
d patience
e kindness
f faithfulness
g goodness
h gentleness
I Self Control
J Heaven (for eternity)
9 God has promised that he will never leave us nor forsake us
What more could you ask for from a God who is so amazing so fantastic, cool, awesome, majestic, redeemer, saviour, Lord, Messiah, Christ, and a brilliant best friend.
You should give him a try some time.
By the way their are more to add to that list see the Bible for more info.

To answer this question we must first define what a religion is and then we can evaluate all the present religions in that criteria and we will find the best of all.
Religion is based on a belief and then a set of rules that the believer of that religion must follow. In simple words it is like a constitution/law that is obeyed by followers. One who fully obeys the law is the best amongst the followers the one who violates the religious rules is not a good follower.
Based on this definition Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam all make you believe that there is one God which is the Lord of everything. After that each religion asks its followers to follow its rules.
Now from belief point of view they all are same. So the difference is in instruction/rules. But why did human beings need these instructions/laws from religion. Answer is very simple and it is to live a peaceful life in a way so that no body offends you and no body gets offended from you.
In normal world what is the best law? The one which covers all areas with least loopholes is the best. Same holds true for religion. To prove a religion the best of all we need to prove that it gives you the guidelines in all the areas of life and these guidelines have no loopholes in them.
Say you are a business man, your religion should be able to provide you all the guidelines on how to do that business in the best way. If you are a teacher what are your responsibilities and how to perform them in a best way, you should be able to find them in your religion. In short whatever scenario you are in your religion must address rather answer all your problems? If this is the case your religion is the best of all.
Now why we have so many religions, although these religions are from same God. Same God sent different messengers at different time to different areas to address their problems and give them guidelines. All messengers performed their job functions honestly and conveyed the message. Now most of these religions/guidelines focused the areas of that time or that nation only. These guidelines were not generic to fit all over the world for all the time. So after a certain time some other prophet was sent to focus the new problems and revise the existing teachings. So in reality we have one religion only. Why the difference in teaching then.
1. One reason is the time factor as I said in different eras different challenges/problems were addressed.
2. In old days there were no press and recording devices so the knowledge used to transfer from ear to ear, generation to generation that modified the original guidelines. Like in case of Bible there is no original text and whatever we find today was written 300 years after Jesus.
Summarizing the answer I would say that you find a religion that tells you how to sleep, when to sleep, how to wakeup, when to wakeup, how to eat, when to eat what to eat, how to greet, how to treat your parents, teachers, relatives, children, women, animals and even non living things. How to earn and how to spend, how to speak and how to listen. What rights a husband has on his wife and what rights a wife has on her husband. How a mother should grow up your children. How the couple should intercourse. Any task you do your religion should offer you the guidelines on how to perform it.
Now I have done many comparisons and I find Islam the final message/set of guidelines the best of all. You just mention your problem and Islam gives you the guidelines within that scenario. Christianity is 600 years earlier than Islam but there were certain issues that Christianity did not defined guidelines and then Islam completed them.

I have studied all religions of the world without prejudice.
I found Islam as the best of all.
Instead of worshipping so many deities and gods, it believes only one God, almighty Allah.
It has scanned out all dogmatism from creatures and only one dogma is the personality of almighty Allah. No father, mother or son of god.
Any neat and pure place on Earth is your Mosque, free to worship on, unlike other religion you can not worship other than shrine, Church etc.
You don't depend on always a priest, for any religious or social activity, for example, anyone more pious among a group of people can lead the prayer.
Marriage is not a religious act but social, you don't need to go to a church and priest for religious wittiness. After that unfortunately, if you cannot lives together with each other there is no way to depart, as marriage is an religious act in other religions, as it has church and priest wittiness. So, instead of marring, people like to live together without marriage as girl/boy friends. THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF GIRL/BOY FRIEND IN ISLAM, UNLESS YOU ARE HUSBAND/WIFE. Your wife is your only girl friend and your husband is your only boy friend.
NO HOMOSEXUALITY GROUP SEX OR ANY OTHER KINDS ILLEGAL SEX OPENLY OR HIDDEN are allowed.
YOU WILL NOT FIND SO MANY QUALITIES IN ANY OTHER RELIGION.
SO ISLAM IS NO. 1
AS IT HAS GONE THROUGH A SERIES OF STAGE WISE REFINEMENT EACH TIME, THROUGH ALL THE PROPHETS FROM ADAM (PBUH) TO MUHAMMAD (PBUH)

Religion is not a pop chart, everybody thinks theirs is number one and of course they also think it's the best. I would examine not only what each religion teaches you but also how its followers behave towards others. And if you can't find anything that fits with your ideals then don't join one.

There is nothing like that, religion cannot be quantified, as all that comes out of it is to merely try and make all people love one another. But religion seems to have widened this gap further away as each tries to convince the other that their theology surpasses the other. So according to me, there is no religion which is better than the other.
