Because of Discipline...you were told not to drink water, and someone did, so that means they broke a directive of NCO...things like this is done not only to make you do what you are told, but also for combat reasons...i.e. you can't stop and pee during a road march either, , if you are properly hydrated in the first place you will not dehydrate in just 8 miles and if you do that is what your medic is for ...remember in basic they would yell at you while you ate to get you out of the chow hall quickly...this is so you learn that a group of soldiers is a better target than just one...it is just one thing about being a PVT...once you are out of basic...stuff like that rarely happens...

A matter of discipline. And, if you were in a combat setting, the sound of sloshing water in a canteen can be heard a long distance away.

cause they were trying to train you in case you didn't have water... how long did you last like 4 days there... did you even graduate? I just got out after 4 years and you should know they do everything for a reason, next time suck it up and push yourself, wait until your sitting in Fallujah in a fox hole with no water for 4 days just waiting for a truck to go down a road... your a disgrace...

This is because your were still in boot camp... I remember in Boot Camp I needed permission for everything. Once you get to the School of Infantry, everything is a little more lenient.

Its called discipline, it is the back bone of the Marine Corps. Maybe after a few years in you will understand.

my boyfriend was a Marine and he told me one time he got a bloody nose while in formation and some blood got on the floor.
His instructor made him clean it up with his own toothbrush.
So basically boot camp sucks!
