Is dating someone with the same level of education as you important?

My friend and I are arguing because my gf only has a highschool education and is working as housekeeping in an upscale hotel, and I am a college educated IT technician. I don't think it matters what her education is. My friend does, who is right?

I think that is not important in a short time... and is something you could pass throw, more if your gf likes to improve herself, the problem could appear in the reunions with your friends, because the chats about the work or technical things, or books, etc... All is about how much care do you have one from the other and the importance you give to the others opinions.

No the education on paper does not matter!

If you find however your not able to communicate on the same intelectual level, then yes I would consider *that* as the true test.

Your a male, I would more expect a woman to be concerned with your question for financial reasons.

to some education is very important. I dont think you need to be a college graduate or a doctor to be intelligent. I have dated many guys who were not great at school, but were able to hold up a very intellectual conversation. It all depends on the person. I dont think its important, but who cares if your friend does. We all have our own preferences.

I don't know about you, but dating people of lesser intelligence made for a lousier relationship. Not only did they just not 'get it' when it came to important life and relationship decisions....it also drove my f**** nuts. I did this for 15 years before I bought a clue and only dated college-educated women....huge difference.

bang the lesser educated and stick with your own kind for girlfriend material.

Maybe she could not afford to go to college at the time.
If you like her who cares what they think
A degree does not mean conclusively that you are smarter
it could mean a host of things
BILL GATES does not have a college degree!
Tell your so called friend to mind his own business if he makes an issue of it.
When I married my husband he did not have a degree and I did and never attended college. He had a high level of common sense but came from a disadvantaged household....after alot of encouragement, he obtained one during our marriage (Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering ) and makes 3x my salary!
