Darkening is really not that bad for your hair. The worst thing is highlights they are really damaging. I guess noting is really good for your hair, but if you are going to pay only 6 dollars to do it yourself it it not that big of a deal. It is not going to stay unless you use a color stay shampoo. You need to be careful of the shade you choose. You highlights can be trick yo dye darker without making them green or gray. I would really recommend going to a salon($60) or at least a beauty college($30) to get the initial dye done since you have highlights. Then it should be easier for you to manage on your own.

BEWARE of highlights! They are tricky to alter!!

Good Luck

Use a good hair color, like Garnier Nutrisse Cream. I love this brand because it is gentle and does not create a mess or drip. You can do this at home, but make sure that you have two packages instead of one. This is in case you end up not having enough hair color. Ask someone to check the back of your head for you to make sure that the color has been distributed all over. Drying hair to a darker color (all over) is much easier than highlightening it, so you will be in a good shape.

Just go to the store and use the color swatches and read the boxes carefully to pick out the color you want. I think you can even purchase a color a shade or two darker in case it fades out. You may try purchasing your color from a beauty supply store (ie Sally's) then a sales associate should be able to assist you in choosing a color.

Wel, i had mine highlighted blonde but it got very dry. i tried looking after it with shampoos and treatments, but it didnt work well enough, eventually my hairdresser said i would have to lose the blonde and go a darker colour...i wos so annoyed but nevertheless i did it, and i love it. its between semi-permenant and permenant and fades in about 6 weeks! so ive had it for a week now and there's no fading in d colour:D! i wash it every other day. hope that helps answer oyur question:)

I use an organic hair color that I get at my local health food store. Can't remember the name right now, sorry. It works better, color stays longer, it is not harmful for your hair and you can usually get two applications out of it.
