Not necessarily, but good quality thick bottomed ones are best, especially if you have a ceramic hob. Cheap pans will burn and warp, whereas good quality ones like heavy gauge stainless steel hold the heat for a long time after turning the hob off, saving fuel and money in the long term.

No, but don't ever cook on the highest settings and remember to remove the pans from the element. They stay hot for a long time.

no. but make sure you dont use cheap pans. they will burn the food and wont last long. i like to use stainless steel.
