I believe Mr. Hague called it correctly, the French being "cheese eating surrender monkeys" would definitely lose.
They'd either surrender at first meeting or they'd trip over the speedbumps at the borders (left over from WWII, installed to slow down German Panzers).
Casualty rates would depend entirely on whether they surrendered immediately or if they retreated, because they'd be much higher if they retreated, due to tripping over one another and stampeding.

Given those two choices, I think the obvious victor would be the British. Though I must confess to a lack of some knowledge about the French Armed Forces, here in America, the French are seen primarily as "surrender monkeys" and incapable of doing much more than submitting to their aggressors. I'd imagine that the British would have no problem capturing and defeating the French with very minimal losses if any.

The British would slaughter the French because Britain has got a better trained military and technology although for the first time in history the French have a bigger Navy then the British.

The British would win with remarkable ease. Assuming the French didn't surrender (due to force of habit), they would certainly lose (due to force of habit).
The British Armed Forces are definitely one of the world's best. In my opinion, they are the finest.
If Britain did want to engage in a war with France, it would be much more cost-effective to enlist a few blokes from any pub. Half a dozen alcohol-fuelled Brits, armed only with fists, pint glasses and snooker cues, would certainly be enough to galvanise a complete French surrender.
No casualties on either side, due to French surrender.

If history is any criteria , the answer should be obvious, England and later Britain has always managed to kick the Crap out of the French with one glaring exception, The Battle of Hastings. The French under Napoleon, a Corsican, did give us a bit of bother

in this case the British would win, not because they have such a good army but just because the french are even more cowardly and would run from they re own shadows. in ww2 the British have a record of sending the Canadian , polish in for the jobs where they expected strong resistance and later take the credits for it. best example is Arnhem there where more polish and Canadian soldiers there than British. in Antwerp they knew it was gonna be a tough one they send the Canadians to liberate the harbor and the dutch island walcheren with great losses.and there are lots more examples.

Well as long as we still have the eurofighter being built over here, the British would destroy them. They have a history of surrendering, so they wouldn't be 100% wiped out. We also still have the channel between us and could blow up the tunnel pretty easily. Unfortunately don't know who has more nukes, which would be the deciding factor if it really happened. But if no nukes allowed, Britain hands down. Most of the French are lovers not fighters. And don't we just love them for it?

The Brits have a better Navy, Army & edge in satilite technology etc. The French have a better Air Force. I'd say the Brits would win. Not very many casualties because the French would back down before any real fighting started. The Britts are just a lot tougher & more aggressive.

Does France even have an armed forces? If they do it hasn't surfaced since WWI. Oh yeah, they were the western army to be defeated in Din - Bin- Pu, I forgot.
E-bay recently had on a sale for French army rifles, never been fired, and only dropped once!
