I know you count the number of beats per min but is that it?

Check your pulse and count the beats in 10 seconds and then multiply that number by 6, like 12 beats X 6 = 72 beats per minute.

When taking your pulse, you can pick it up from the wrist, but use your index finger to detect the pulse, not your thumb. Your thumb has a pulse, too, and you could inadvertantly double-count. You can also pick it up from your neck... too hard to describe where in text, though.

Buy a device that measure blood pressure, pulse and heart rate too...it so simple and cheap to...no need a frequent visit to your doctor just to know it. it's pretty useful so you can monitor your blood pressure everyday....
