Hi, my husband wants to get his highschool diploma instead of a GED. Is this possible? All he wants is a diploma good enough to get into the local technical college. Do you think the diplomas through Ashworth College or other online schools are good enough? If not, how would a grown person go about getting one. Thanks.

The GED will get him the same thing and it will probably be a lot cheaper.

Many community college offer assistance in getting your GED and personally, a lot of these places are rip-offs. I see one commercial that offers you a college degree, but its credits are not transferable to other colleges (The school is not accredited and they are giving people false expectations.)

If he goes to the community college, he might even be able to pick up some college credit, which always looks good on an application, even if college is not required for the job, it show maturity, etc.

Classes start soon, call today.

Others have suggested getting in touch with your local board of education, and I think that's a great idea. The GED is usually fine for getting into 2-year colleges. But check with the college itself. As an older learner, he might not have to get the GED at all if he can show he's capable of the work. They might let him in without a high school diploma.
I think it's great that he's going back to school! Go for it, big guy!

I think getting a high school diploma is a great idea! Many high schools offer night classes for adults. You should check with your local school district to see if they have any recommendations.

There are ways to get your high school diploma through night school, check with your county to see if they offer it through public schools.
