Noah was some 500 years-old when God asked him to build the ark. (Genesis 5:32), and it seems it took him many years, since when the waters came he was 600 (Genesis 7:11).

Because of the context of God's statement that "My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years" (Gen. 6:3) many scholars would understand that from that point until the flood were 120 years. Whether or not Noah was building the ark during that entire time is not known of a certainty from the Bible, though some have assumed this.

At the time of the flood, Noah was 600 (Gen. 7:6). However, Noah was 500 when Japheth was born, and 502 when Shem was born.

BTW 600 years in the bible prolly refers to moons not years
