If you want something a little more sizable and American, you should be able to find a used Monte Carlo in that range. Better in crashes, repairs will be cheaper, and they're pretty good on gas. I get 32 Hwy on my '05 Monte

If you are willing to buy a used one, then you are in the right price range. There are many options in this price range for used: from classic mustangs, camaros and gto's to newer models of Camaros, Corvettes and Vipers.

For about $20K you can get some nice classic rides like Malibu SS, Camaro Z28's, Chevy Nova's and more.

If you are an import guy, (which it does not sound like) you can seek a Toyota Supra, Nissan 300Z or if you are into Europeans models, you can even get a Porsche for that price range.

By the way the closest thing to a new sports car you can get closest to your price range is the Pontiac Solstice, a roadster which is about $26k-$28k. Good luck.

i've had a firebird, a z28 camaro, a 3000 gt, a 04 mustang and now I have a hyundai tiburon. The tib is by far the best car, super cute and sporty, very fast and quick, handles nicely, especially on road trips and the freeway, is small easy to park, reliable, came with 100,000 warranty, leather, 5 spd, sunroof, infinity sound system, ect and was 22,000. go test drive one!
