The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout persons throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity on United States coins. From Treasury Department records, it appears that the first such appeal came in a letter dated November 13, 1861. It was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania.

God made man, man made money. It is Caesars money that was suppose to be historically rendered, not U.S. currency. If you didn't render Caesars money you would be be-headed. We (are suppose to) live in a republic where we can protest the taking of our money without good reason.

The U.S. mint put "in God we trust," on the money. Jesus said, "Render unto Cesar what is Cesar's." He was speaking to the disciples about paying taxes.

The government put it on the money.
And for all the people saying it was because we are Chritian nation it say IN GOD WE TRUST, not in Christ we trust. All religions trust in God so it is not a Christian thing..........it is common to have such a motto on money, usually it would pertain to the monarch of the country like God save the Queen. Well we had no one to put God save on so it became in God we trust. Most nations put God on money to signify a connection to the perceived predestination of that country.

USA was founded on Chrisianity. That is why the US was blessed. The country is loosing its God focus, so the country is failing. All the money came from God, he owns the world and all that is in it. The day will come soon, you will see the truth!
