Because look on the Supreme Court building, there are images of Muhammad, Confucius, Moses, etc etc. You don't destroy history just for the sake of political correctness. History should be preserved so that people might learn from it. I'm a Christian and I'm not upset that Muhammad is on the Supreme Court building. It neither makes Islam true nor makes me follow it, so it neither robs my pocket or breaks my leg, so why should I claim any kind of persecution? Why should you?

We have Freedom of Religion, it's just that we need to have Freedom FROM Religion. If a religious symbol or practice in a Government setting is deemed to be unconstitutional and needs to be removed or stopped, then believers of that religion scream that they're being persecuted. Many Christians in this country hide behind the guise of "Persecution" to try to get government to back down when they tell religious people that the US government is and must stay a Secular government.

Should be according to the way the country was originally set up, despite the way the fundies try to put a spin on it, but you either have to support all religions (which would be insane) or like you say, get rid of it all... which is like getting rid of a BAD RASH. Nice thought though.

We don't have to, the government themselves will do that. Why would they want to do such a thing? They ( earthly governments) themselves would not dare to get rid of religions but "God put it into their hearts to carry out his thought" to end the religions. (Revelation 17:17) We can be sure that this will occur soon. Whatever God wants something done nothing can over turn his words. "...So my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it." --Isaiah 55:11.

most of Americans are christian. you can't expect all government people to be atheists. I do have problems with mixing religion and politics, though.

We shouldn't even have to get rid of them, because they shouldn't have been there in the first place.
