Very likely. Actually, that's one of the biggest reasons to go vegetarian. Meats (even chicken and turkey) are loaded with fats (saturated- horrible fats) and cholesterol. Eliminating these from your diet is a great step towards not just weight loss, but a very healthy heart. Beans are a great meat alternative, low in fat, high in protein, but also high in fiber. They are great for your heart!!! There are also a lot of great meat alternative out there- veggie burgers, soy bacon, veggie dogs, even fake chicken nuggets (one of my faves!!). Give it a try! What have yougot to lose, besides a little weight?? ♥

No. Weight loss has nothing to do with absence of meat. You only need to look at how Atkins diet work to see this.

You can gain more weight by eating large amount of carbohydrates, pasta, rice, bread, sugar, etc.

If you become vegetarian, be very careful on what you eat. Human body require minerals and other trace elements that do not exist in sufficient quantity in vegetables. You can seriously cause long term health issues if you are not careful. (same caution apply to everybody though)

being a vegetarian or a carnivore has nothing to do with it, eating RIGHT is everything.

there are meat eaters who have a bad diet, and there are vegetarians that have a bad diet. i've known a lot of meat eaters that eat whatever they want, and dont worry about getting the proper diet, just as i've known vegetarians that avoid meat at all costs, but dont do anything to get the protein and nutrients that meat provides in their diet.

if you excercise, keep track of your calories, proteins, trans fats, etc.... you can eat meat, or not, and still be ok, and most likely lose weight in the process.

The answer to that question is not necessarily.
Unfortunately, when changing to a vegetarian diet, some people feel the need to eat more and more often simpley because they are not as full. Meats and meat products are "heavy". You get a sense of fullness with less calories. Therefore, some folks eat and eat and eat trying to fill the "need". Even though veggie and carbs have less fat, in general than meat products, a pound of food is a pound of food. You can easily eat 2000 calories in cake and cookies.
Be careful.

You will probably die if you become a vegetarian. Eat a balanced diet that includes meats and you will be fine.

Look at the Atkins diet and the Beach Body workout program. This is an excellent combo.

As long as you arent eating cheese fries for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc. like my sis did. Think about it. You are consuming less calories and bad fats when you are eating veggies. That is what weight loss truly boils down to. Less calories and less bad fats.
