What do you think about getting into a relationship with someone at work? What happens if it doesn't work out between you - it could be very awkward to then work with that person. On the other hand, it seems a shame to miss out on an opportunity with a guy or girl. What are your thoughts on this?

As long as you are respectful of each other and your work relationship, there's no reason why you shouldn't. Yes, there's a chance it could all end horribly BUT it could just be fun or it could be life changing! How sad if you missed out on the love of your life! Even if things do go wrong, you'll get through it. I bet you've got through worse in life, right?

Take the chance!

I have been there and got the t-shirt. It all depends on the type of relationship you have. I met a guy at work and we were together for 6 years and had a baby together on the other hand other people in my place of work went out but it was awkward when it ended and it sometimes got bitchy. You need to be upfront with each other and make sure you try to remain work colleagues or friends if it ends

It is possible to date a co-worker. My BF and I work and have been together for over a year. His ex-fiance also worked with us for some time. That was difficult but we were there to work and didn't let it effect our jobs. As long as both can be mature adults and keep the personal life at home and professional work ethic on the job it is fine. It could be hard if it ends but why miss out on something that could be perfect. To many times we assume the worst. Live life for the moment and be happy.

if you can keep your personal life out of your professional life then go for it, but most the time this is hard to do. If you all have a fight the night before it can spill over into work and effect your job. It all depends on the relationship. I believe that 90 percent of the time it probably is not a good idea, but hey maybe you can get it to work.

my friend met and feel in love with our boss at work. Unfortunately he was asked to move to a different shift and eventually resigned but he has a better job now and they are very happy. You can't help who you fall in love with. But you are right if it doesn't work out you both need to be adult about it and remain friends at least at work. Just make an agreement to be friends no matter what happens. Best of luck! I say go for it.

Everyone seems to say, "No, it's a bad idea!" but the fact is a lot of people probably meet their partner through the workplace.

Most people work with members of the opposite sex and it saves you having to join a crappy evening class just to try to meet someone who also likes basket weaving.

From experience, stay clear. I had a second job in a local pub. The landlord left and a new one took over. We hit it off straight away and went out for 3 years. When we split it got really messy. I had to leave the part time job I loved and he actually barred me from the pub because it was upsetting his mother (pathetic!). Steer well clear.

They are not a good idea, if things don't work out between the two of you things could get ugly at work and nobody wants that. Good luck:)

If it seems right for you then go for it. But there are some workplaces that have a strict no dating fellow colleagues policy for a reason. As you say, what if you split. or if he or she is in a higher position than you and you get promoted or get special treatment?i always made it a rule not to date colleagues but as i said before, you will never know if you don't go for it.

GOOD LUCK
