Most Americans (as opposed to Europeans) have been trained to think that drinks must be either cold or hot -- as opposed to just room temperature or slightly below. A GOOD beer (as opposed to what we Americans USUALLY get around here) is improved by being served just below room temperature, but NOT chilled or cold (which tends to kill the taste -- oh, right, that's WHY we do it here! lol!!).

but to answer your question. if you mean why drink a cold beverage when its cold outside? you could extend your question to include: why drink cold soft drinks? iced tea? cold water.. when its cold?

Most American beers are made for that. Others are made to be enjoyed at higher temperatures.

have you ever tryed beer when it is hot? it tastes so nasty and sticky in your throat!! guys just made it up that you have to drink it when it is cold because it gives you and adrenaline rush. don't believe it.
