we should just keep religion and politics separate from one another as they are two totally different functions in life and should be treated as such

First I want to state I'm a Christian and I am not fond of the Pledge of Allegiance anyway... however, the pledge is not TO God, it is to the flag and the country.. it does say "One nation under God" but doesn't specify which "god" so really, it is to which ever entity anyone considers their god.
