Gas grills and heaters are one of the most common causes of carbon monoxide poisoning. The severity of the poisoning depends on the size of the house or room where the appliance is used, and how much ventilation is provided. Even with ventilation you can die from carbon monoxides because it binds to red blood cells faster than it releases from them, so it steadily builds up and causes suffocation.

Lots of carbon monoxide deaths have been in the news recently:

Absolutely. Whenever a carbon based fuel burns without sufficient oxygen, carbon monoxide is produced. That occurs in a charcoal grill, since the fire is covered to limit combustion- which is why you should NEVER use a grill in the house.

You can also get carbon monoxide from a gas range, if the air supply gets plugged, and it CAN KILL YOU. If you see a lot orange flame from a burner, shut that burner off.

This happens if dust mice get into the air intake.

Yes you can, if the air intake holes to the cooker jets are blocked, you may get incomplete combustion of the gas leading to the formation of some carbon monoxide.

While carbon monoxide is a deadly gas, to truly be deadly, it requires a sufficient amount delivered in a closed environment. People killed by it have to be in a closed up place, saturated with the gas for a sustained amount of time.

If you are in a well-ventilated area with moving air, you will be ok.

You will know if it is getting to be a problem as you'll become nauseated.

yes, the gas coming out of your cooker is carbon monoxide and when you light it to burn it, it becomes carbon dioxide. so if you leave the gas on you can get carbon monoxide poisoning

yes you can get a leak in the system that will cause carbon monoxide to leak out..

However with most gas containing items around the house you could get it from almost anything central heating gas boilers gas fires anything that contains gas really so best be careful and buy a carbon monoxide tester.. you can get them cheap in hardware stores.

*hope this helps*

A note of guidence for all the would be junior gas engineers who have tried to answer your question above.

The effects of carbon monoxide on the human body>>>>

10-20% Tightness across forehead, & yawning
20-30% Flushed skin, headache, breathlessness,
palpatation on exersion, slight dizziness
30-40% Severe headache, dizziness, nausea,
weakness of the knees, irritability,
impaired judgement, possible collapse.
40-50% Symptoms as above with increased
respiration & pulse rates, collapse
on exertion.
50-60% Loss of consciousness & coma
60-70% Coma,weakened heart & respiration
70% + Respiratory failure and DEATH.

to answer your question, yes in the event of incomplete combustion ( burning of gas products ) you can get C.O. from any gas appliance

carbon monoxide is a by-product from the combustion of carbon based fuel.

Natural Gas or Propane (LPG) are carbon based fuels.
