yes of course, Jesus did not mention any exceptions to his teachings. But as Americans, we rationalize state interests. Therefore, we're not really Christians. Can't pick and choose when it comes to religous doctrine. sorry

If the military leaders consider themselves Christians, they can't drop off their religion at the War Room door. There is always a place for ethics in wartime, including the ethics taught by Christ.
Paraphrasing the Bible, there is a time for all things under Heaven, and that includes war. But how we conduct ourselves during war says immense amounts about who we really are as people. Do we value life itself, including the lives of our own soldiers AND of enemy combatants (who one day probably won't be our enemies: look at Japan and Germany)? Are there ways to reduce the loss of life in war? Are there ways to reduce the loss of civilian non-combatant lives? Can non-violent solutions be found to conflicts? Can technology help our armed forces to better target enemies and avoid non-combatants and collateral damage? Can we avoid the use of torture and other inhumane, anti-Christian actions? Can we treat prisoners of war in a Christian fashion by treating them humanely?
War is hell, as they say, and terrible things will happen during war. But much can be done to reduce the atrocities of war & allow us to hold on to our humanity and our Christianity in such trying circumstances. Sometimes, trying circumstances can bring out the best in us. Let us hope and pray that this is the rule rather than the exception among our military personnel in these particular trying times.

I doubt that there is anything remotely religious being discussed in the war room, nor do I believe that Christ is even in their thoughts.

Actually the way they fought wars in bible times is a lot worse than what we do now. They'd kill everyone and burn everything. If we did that in Iraq, I garuntee this war would already be over.

If they remembered the teachings of Christ, they wouldn't be in the military. War is satanism.
