It's not stalking, but it is a little presumptuous.
Start with talking to him in person. Ask for his email, even though you already have it, and see if he gives it to you. If he does, then use it well. If not, then you know to back off.
And I wouldn't get him a present until you two are dating. He might run scared if you come on too strong, even if he likes you already.

Don't get him a present. But do email him. Don't go all crazy on him with a long love letter. Just send something short, sweet, and simple. Sending him a gift would make him think he has to give something back to you, which he doesn't, since you two are not in an official relationship and he would feel awkward. Good Luck.

dont send a present to someone you dare not even email on the offchance he may not like you. you could be sneaky about it and save the embarrassment by sending an email but sending it named to someone with a similar name,,pretend you clicked the wrong addy,,say his name is steve, write your email to stella,,your aunty!!! just say something normal,,,,,are you coming on tuesday then,,will be good to see you,,love (insert your name),,if he replies to the email just say, oops and start a conversation,,if he doesnt send one back he isnt interested and your mistake is fine.laugh it off.good luck hun.

Email once=rational
Emailing beyond that after no response is stalkerish and so is getting a gift.

Why wouldn't you? You can let him know exactly what you just typed to us in here.
"I don't know if you know who I am, but I got your email through the XXXXXXX club roster. I just wanted to say "Hi", and talk to you a bit. If you're interested, let me know."
Easy, huh?
