Note: Prosecco is an alcoholic beverage. Do not confuse it with italian salted / cured meats.

Any inexpensive sparkling wine.

Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine -- there are different qualities of it, and in northern Italy bars sell it from a tap on the bar just like beer. But the exported ones come in champagne bottles and are much better quality. Prosecco gets its name from the grape variety, and the method of making is not the same as Champagne.

So any inexpensive fizz will do.

Any type of spumanti, Verve or Domaine would be a good substiitutes. Unless you live in a very small town, Prosecco is usually found in specialty liquor stores or wine stores. I've found a bottle in a local grocery store that has a rather large liquor section. Asti-spumanti is a little too fruity for me so I would sugguest a Domaine brut champagne. Its American and should be easy to find

"Prosecco" is a grape variety, from north-east of Italy, mainly used for Spumante or sparkly wine (which are not the same thing); so every Spumante is suitable, good or bad quality is another issue :)

Asti Spumante is probably best. Any other non-champagne sparkling wines too. Champagne is typically too dry.
