I have lost 60 lbs with eating between 1200-1500 calories a day, drinking water, walking, strength training, and eight hours of sleep. I joined a free website which I found very helpful. I know it's not a glamorous quick fix, but if you lose weight too quickly or on a weird diet plan, you WILL gain the weight back. Good luck and just take it a day at a time and don't berate yourself for mistakes. The website is http://www.sparkpeople.com

Eat less, exercise more... that's it!
But once you lose the weight, remember to keep eating better foods and exercising. If you stop the healthy lifestyle, you will just gain it all back! That's why diets don't work - people lose weight, then stop the diet and gain the weight again because their lifestyle hasn't changed at all. Yo-yo dieting is unhealthy and messes up your metabolism, making you gain even more weight.
Learn portion control and eat more healthy foods! Fresh vegetables, fruits, and lean meats .... less processed foods, sweets, etc.

It's all about diet and exercise. I know a lot of people who hate counting calories, but that's what you have to burn to lose weight. If you're consuming more than you're burning, you'll gain weight, vice versa you'll lose weight.
You need to burn 3500 extra calories to lose 1lb.
First you need to find your basal metabolic rate. Female: 656+(height in " x 4.7)+(weight in # x 4.35)-(age x 4.7). This is the amount of calories you'd burn if you did nothing all day. You can go on webmd.com and search "calculators" and you'll find out how many calories you burn doing each activity.
Anyway, you can do the math. If you are only a few pounds overweight or just want to lose 5 to 10 lbs. you can lose 1-2 lb. a week depending on your exertion. If you're obese, you'll lose maybe more than 5 lb. a week at first and then you'll plateau.
Also make sure you're not consuming empty calories, you want to lose fat, not muscle.

I read every diet book I could find and used the things that worked for me. I took the parts that I could follow and actually do every day. SlimFast has a website that offers all kinds of advice and it's free. Lean Cuisine also will give advice. you don't have to eat the products to use the advice either. It's really best to just watch waht you eat, drink lots of water, and exercise as often as possible.

Weight Watchers is absolutely the best program available. It's not a diet but a lifestyle change. You don't have to miss the foods you love, just learn to eat them in moderation. Try it! I lost 65 pounds in 6 months.

Has anyone told you that the word diet indicated the way that one eats. Therefore, change your eating habits. Take in plenty of fibrous vegetables and good fruits. Take in plenty of water. Stay away from sugary sodas and fruit juices. Get plenty of excerise at least a 20-30 min. workout. If you are not use of excersing start off with walking because it exercises the whole body.

Dear.at beginning I would like to till you 2 important things 1-You should know your daily needs of calories suppose it is 1500 cal/day so if you take less than this you will loose from your fat stores to cover your needs 2- each food item gives us number of calories according to its nature as example fat gives about 9 cal./gm while carbohydrates and proteins gives 4cal./gm.but it is not that simple as those items needs some energy to be digested and absorbed by our bodies,so the net gain in some food stuffs my be less than its calculations,,,examples cabbage and cauliflowers and tomato gives us about ZERO cal. but it exhaust some energy to be digested and absorbed and if you mad a soap of its mixture and take it 3 times daily before meal you will loose wt.
