I love this question, and it's not about respect if you do or don't. I think that if you two are going to share the rest of your lives together you should be able to make each other laugh, share the laughter and share humiliation together. At my wedding, my husband was holding our son (9months at the time) as we were cutting the cake.. he fed me first and then I fed him.... well we smashed that cake in each others face so good that it took forever to clean, the best part is we also licked it off of each others neck.... what a wonderful fun loving way to share with your guest the first day of the rest of your lives together... I say go for it and have a blast!

No, and if he had, I would have divorced him instantly. This is the most disgusting, disrespectful custom I know of. I once was at a wedding where the groom shoved the cake in the bride's face and rubbed it in, and the bride spent the rest of the reception in the ladies room, crying. Great way to start a marriage, eh?

i've got watched 'Funniest homestead Video's' sort courses and that i've got considered maximum of the cake smashing at weddings. I continuously balk and check out the instant for the expression on the lady's face. i've got considered the bride and groom the two get offended approximately it too. i think of its a poor occasion of love and recognize. i would not try this to all and sundry and that i specific would not submit with it being achieved to me. With that mentioned, I see some human beings like doing it in a playful way and that they enjoyed themselves. specially, i've got been examining that a before communicate handed off, it somewhat is have been given to be the biggest. communicate it before or you would be able to nicely be in for a chilly honeymoon.

Somebody actually did a survey of couples about this and found out that the divorce rate among those who did smash the cake in each others faces was like twice that of those who didn't. My wife and I didn't. Why would you want to have even a cake fight with a brand new spouse?

he shoved a piece of wedding cake in his own face then kissed me. I have a great picture of it on my desk...then we went and kissed all the guests so everyone was covered in cake by the end. it was so much fun! anyone who would get mad needs to loosen up and have a good time. wedding receptions are supposed to be fun.

no we didn't but that was because while we were cutting it, the cake top fell onto the floor. We couldn't stop laughing long enough to feed each other. One of the most memorable moments, albeit not the most graceful.

Either one that decides to do this, well.....
What is better than embarrassing the person you just vowed to respect & cherish for the rest of your lives? And what bride doesn't want to wear wedding cake all over her dress?
This is NOT funny, EVER.

It's all in having fun. If you don't like it, tell him not to do it before the wedding occurs. I didn't get mad. Afterall, it was rather enjoyable when he licked the smudged frosting from my lips!
