last night my almost 2 year old was up until 4:00 this morning screaming her head off and pulling at her ears. i already made her an appointment for today but i was just wondering if maybe her ears hurt or if she could be cutting her 2yr old molars. i put my finger in her mouth to feel if she was cutting any teeth in back and i didnt feel anything. she did start pulling at her ears until after i gave her a bath which makes me wonder if she got water in her ear. this morning she was fine when i took her to daycare but she was still kinda putting her hands and hovering them over her ears. anyone know whats going on? i cant take another night like that, lol.

on christmas eve i walked into the kitchen and got us something to drink and by the time i got back into the living room she had gotten her play lip gloss open and dipped both fingers in it and was rubbing it in her ears. i cleaned them out really good and i didnt see any on the inside of her ear canal, but maybe a little got down in there, you think maybe that is what caused this?

I believe that she may have an ear infection. My son got those all of the time. To this day he has sensitive ears. He won't ride in the car with the windows down and he wears something on his ears when we take him on the boat. Just take her to the doctor (eve though she seems to be feeling better) and have it checked out. Usually when they pull or tug on the ears, they are aching. Try elevating her head a bit when sleeping tonight to take some of the pressure off.

I doubt it was the lip gloss......

Good luck!

Your daughter shouldn't have to take another "night like that" either!!! lol!
It sounds like she has fluid in her ears and an ear infection...she needs to see her doctor asap...whenever a child pulls at their ears, it is a very good indication of an infection!
It could also be sinus pressure from a cold coming on, or allergies...it is best to always get the doctors opinion since at this age they are much to young to "tell" you with "words" what they are feeling!

The lip gloss COULD be "itchy" if there is any left in her ears...not like to CAUSE an infection, though. BUT...be very careful...it is NEVER a good idea to put a Q tip down in her ear!!! THAT could cause her ear pain!!! and if you used a wash cloth, it probably couldn't clean enough of the lip gloss out...so be sure to mention that to the doctor when you take her in!!!

What it sounds like is a ear infection. I am gald to hear you are going to take her to the doctor. And it is possible she got some of the lipgloss stuck in her ear still. My 3 year old stuck paper in his 45 year old sisters ear and I thought I had got it all but when I took her to the doctor he sulled out what I could not see. Hope you child feels better.

She has an ear infection. Take her to the pediatrician RIGHT AWAY!!!! All she needs is some ear drops and that will take care of the pain right away.

Also, since some versions of the ear infection are contageous she should NOT be in school or daycare at all!

well it could be a ear infection. Those are pretty hurtful on alot of adults so when kids [[expecially the youunger ones]] get them it really bothers them.Ear infections just pop up too so you have no symphoms b4 it happens.Go check if her room window was open or the air conditinor was on cause if there was anything cold sucha as a breeze in her room that increases the chance of ear infections.&& u said that she was fine the next day so it was probably the breeze that made her ears hurt more.Good luck

my 2 year old daughter did that about 2 weeks ago. i was up with her all night. i took her to the doctor and they told me she had an ear infection. they gave me some ear drops and in a couple of days it was better. i wouldnt suggest that you give her a bath for a couple of days to prevent water getting in her ears.
