No. It has nothing to do with authority. I choose to believe in myself rather than an external force. It's more of a 'logic thing'. I have no problem accepting authority. I respect my parent, the police, etc.
Personally I think it is extremely juvenile of you to assume that your God is 'the only way'. I suppose by your beliefs, the billions of Hindu are going to hell. You're saying that your way is correct and theirs is incorrect? Have you even read about their belief system? What about the Muslims? The Buddhists? Science?

The constant attempts to fit atheists into your "God" box of reasons we don't believe is getting tiresome. Let's try a different approach.
Extraordinary claims, such as there is this big invisible guy in the sky that controls the Universe, requires extraordinary proof. Proof that is not anecdotal, hearsay, just because some book says so. Real testable proof. So far none has been presented. Zip, nada, not one iota of proof. It is not that we don't want a god, there has never been any evidence that there is one.
When you say "OK prove to me that there is not a God" that argument is fallacious. We don't have to prove the non existence of something that doesn't exist. The entire burden of proof is on you. If you can't come up with something better than, "The Book says so," stop bothering us.
I really don't care what you want to believe, believe in anything you want. But if you want us to leave you alone, stay out of the Science & Math section and stop answering serious science oriented questions with, "God did it."
Why do we keep coming into this section, because you won't stay out of our section.

Put down the crack pipe right now, seriously.
Why would anyone not want there to be a god? You think I wouldn't want some loving, powerful man in the clouds watching over me? You think I don't want to live forever after I die and be reunited with all my friends and family? Atheism is just about the least comforting view about god. I am an atheist because there is no evidence to suggest that any god exists. But I would love nothing more than for such evidence to be found.
Isn't it more likely that theists' views are based on their desire for there to be a god? At least that makes sense.

I think not, that´s my opinion. But now, tell me: are believers blinded by they incapacity to live in a world where there is no authority to tell them what to do?
I believe atheist are atheist for much better reasons than believers are believers. Anyways, you just have got to respect what others think.

Not really. Many of them are simply limited in their thinking to things they understand and are incapable of the thought that some things may be beyond their ability to understand. They also are very good at ignoring anything that upsets their belief (or rather unbelief) system. On the other hand. some atheists came from a religious family background where religion was an oppressive presence in their lives and atheism is their way of rejecting their past.

no i think there are many other possiblities out there that disprove a god! i believe in aliens creating us or we are aliens that "crash landed" on earth and just had to restart here, we didn have anything which is why we slowly advanced in technology and other ways. i mean you think it sounds nuts but put some1 in the woods with nothing and make them start a life from nothing and build from nothing! exactly...its harder than u would imagine, esp. the further along your technology is, back in the day people could survive with so little and today because technology rules us pretty much we couldnt survive without anything! i dont want there to not b a god, but god doesnt make sense to me,

Why would we not want there to be one?
I believe that there is meaning to life and that there is a bigger picture that none of us understand. I do not believe in any organized religion. Anyone who claims to know what is going on is lying, we just don't know but we should keep looking.
We should find people here on earth to believe in and support. They can actually accomplish important things, as they are alive. We should get off of our knees and lead ourselves out of the mess we've made on earth.

what's up with each and every of the all cap YOU's? extra beneficial to ask a query applying "I" statements so it is extra inviting and not so "finger shaking or pointing" at us, ya know. And, this might have been a query of four sentences and you may get responses. no longer putting you down, attempting to help. The question exchange into see you later, forgot what you asked - i assume it is to communicate approximately flesh vs. religious and to stay interior the religious and to be form to a minimum of one yet another - see, that's especially straight forward to declare in regularly occurring on a daily basis language. Be blessed. hiya - basically observed the question returned and all of us know that we are able to label ourselves Christian or Atheist and what does count selection is how we live - so, specific, all people (except with devil) might like various people to be form and to maintain on with Godly regulations.

I'm a somewhat atheists. I have my own personal definition of God and I'm happy with it but I don't believe in any of the religions.
I just dislike it when other people force me to believe in their religion and on top say that their god is the "true" god.

Why would anyone NOT want to believe in a loving caring god?
Perhaps the reason YOU believe in god, is because you so dearly want there to be one...
The rest of us are comfortable with the truth.
