We need at least a 6 bedroom home with 4 beds for adult couples. The kids say they need a private pool. We want to be as close to the beach as possible. As for sightseeing, we like dolphins, shipwrecks, and about any outdoor activities.

We will be arriving at the beginning of June and we found a rental, but I was wondering if there were any cheaper/better ones out there that I can't find. I have spent the last 2 weeks on the internet and only found a handful of places. The thing I am most worried about is finding places to go when we get there. We will be staying at Corolla (unless we find something different) and all of the places I have found seem to be like a 6 hour drive. We don't want to go too far like 2 or less hours in a day.

You might want to think about staying further south, maybe Oak Island near Wilmington. Fort Fisher and the Battleship NC Memorial are nearby, and the NC Aquarium, Southport and Baldy Island.
As you have noted, the Outer Banks are more isolated and not as much stuff to do unless you like to drive. Of course, that is just as nice in its way.
You should be able to find rentals where ever you decide to go, just google NC coast vacation rentals.
Have fun!

It depends on what time of year you are planning to visit, as many coastal towns figuratively shut down in winter.

If you are planning a Spring/Summer trip, check the Outer Banks. The barrier islands are gorgeous and renting a house is very easy. The rates for rentals double after Memorial Day, as that's when the official tourist season starts. I don't have a specific rental agency to refer you to, but there are no lack of them. I imagine an internet search will give you plenty of options.

If you want to be around more people, shops, restaurants, etc. look around Nag's Head and Kitty Hawk - that's the more developed end. If you are looking for something quiet look further south towards Buxton, Hatteras or Ocrakoke.
