NOOOOOOOOOOO. You'll ruin it.
Put it in a colander and let coolish water run over it. Or put it in a bowl and fill the bowl with water.
They thaw really fast.

No, you would need a freezer to "unthaw" shrimp. (to unthaw, the product would need to go back to it's frozen state)
the best way to thaw shrimp is under running water, it works fast enough. The microwave will make it rubbery.

Absolutely NOT... A microwave is used for heating NOT freezing... To "UNTHAW" something means you want to freeze it. You need a freezer for that.
If you want to THAW some shrimp just place them in some warm water for 5 minutes then repeat till thawed. Store in frig with ice on top if you will not be using this immediately!!!

Not, don't defrost in microwave.
You will ruin it's delicate texture -- then, the only resemblance is has to a shrimp is it's shape -- even that might be a stretch.
It will taste mushy.
Some poor shrimp gave up it's life to be in your freezer.
It's entire existence should end with some respect (and taste).
Thaw under tap water, blot dry. Respect your shrimp!

It's very tricky with a microwave. Since shrimp defrost quickly, why not fill a pot with warm water, stick them in, and let it sit for 10 minutes?

No. I put the shrimp in a colander and run cold water over it, tossing the shrimp. It does not take long at all.

You have to mean THAW, not unthaw. If something is thawed and you want to unthaw it, that means you want to freeze it again.

It's not recommended because you end up cooking them and when you cook them in the method you are choosing, it overcooks them and the shells stick to the meat. The suggested method for thawing seafood is to run cold water on them and it thaws them rather quickly.
