Ok, we seem to hear americans brag about this stuff, but on the level, i dont say that, they say it, the fact that they lost in Vietnam, and that they are losing in Iraq shows how "powerful" they are, explain a war that you have clearly won fairly all by yourselves. I am just going to get a load of angry americans, but if you are so "powerful" than surely you will have hard evidence, and not just from an american, which wars have you won all by yourselves, big wars now.Because you are just natural losers at wars. Face it americans, you are no good at winning wars, Vietnam, Iraq, come invade England and well kick you a-r-s-e just like even the vietnamese did. oh sorry i mean just like ONE little vietnamese organisation did, LOL

Following is the text of my reply to another of your questions. I will follow this with more.
American Revolution - Won.
War of 1812 - Won - not truly decisive.
Mexican American War - Won.
United States Civil War - Won (we are still one country).
Spanish American War - Won.
World War I - Won.
World War II - Won.
Korean War - Part of the UN - Draw - Technically still going on.
Vietnam War (really a police action) - lost - but not by the military.
Desert Storm - Won.
Operation Enduring Freedom (Police Action) - Ongoing police action.
Iraqi Freedom (aka Desert Storm II) - Ongoing police action.
As you can see we won far more than we lost. The only one that we really lost is Vietnam. The others are still going on, and militarily we have achieved the objectives. In Vietnam, if the military had been allowed to press its advantage after the Tet Offensive (which was a massive defeat for the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong), it is likely that the US would chalk Vietnam up as a win.
So since we no longer pay homage to your queen, I would say that we kicked your buts once upon a time. World War II had you on the ropes without the US to bail you out of it. You brag about your superiority, and I could say that the whole reason we are fighting this war in Iraq, the one in Afghanistan and some others that we have been involved in, is the blatant imperialism of the British Empire. You grouped people together who hated each other, and left. When you left these people to fend for themselves, you set up governments that were semi sympathetic to the Crown and then supported them as they squashed opposition. The US has occasionally been guilty of this as well. The difference is we are trying to make things better. Our military isn't just shooting. We are building roads and schools and hospitals and so on.
I am not saying that we are perfect, because we aren't. We are trying.

The military did not lose a war in Vietnam. That was a police action - they were misused, the same as in Iraq - now that the armed, military conflict is over there. The military won the Iraq war quickly, as they did in Vietnam. No military can (history has proved) be an effective police force against an indigenous population. But politicians abuse the military.
Of course what you are forgetting is Nuclear capability in a genuine war. There is no country that even comes close to the US Nuclear arsenal - though the USSR has close to the tonnage. The US policy is not to use such weapons, but should we get our backs to the wall...
You are also forgetting how many countries England lost control of in the last 150 years - look up a list of lost countries, battles, and wars - it staggers the mind! Nowadays, the sun does set on the British Empire. Even primitive tribes beat their Army - all over the world - many of them with nothing but spears. Oh yes, and you had to quit the slave trade, too.
Of course I love the English. (Fortunately we got involved in WWII so there actually are an English people.) I also love the culture, the food, and Holland & Holland. But then, every barrel has its rotten apples...

The Americans have the manpower but their troops aren't very well trained, the only thing they have is their firepower and people believe that the Americans have got the best military because they watch too many movies. The Russians have the biggest Navy and Air Force and the Chinese have the biggest army so the Americans can stop saying they have the biggest military. The Americans didn't beat the British several times without help from other countries because let's face it America can't win a war on it's own.The Americans didn't save the British in WW2 it was the British who saved the Americans *** loads of times in battle and Britain saved itself in the Battle of Britain and it was only in one war the Americans beat the British because the Americans lost the war in 1812.

The question was " Americans ? Most powerful Military ? "
The answer is " YES "
I am a Canadian and if America hadn't helped England in WW2, then your mother tongue would now be German ( Achtung )
As far as Vietnam goes , that was a political war .....The north was being helped by China and Russia
The American troops in NAM were put on a leash by their government ....The same thing as if you were in a boxing ring and you had to fight your opponent with one arm behind your back .
I have nothing against the English or Americans but do you really think that England could have kept Russia at bay during the cold war , all alone ....don't think so ...
So not only did America keep you from speaking German , they also kept you from speaking Russian ( peristroika )
You don't necessarily have to fight a war in order to win it ( cold war as an example )
So quit dissing your allies , we are suppose to be in this together
pip pip cheerio eh

Well the British Empire got it's *** kicked by the Colonies and all we had was 2nd hand weapons.
Britain would have been toast without USA in WW2
It Certainly wasn't the UK that kept the Russians at bay during the Cold War.
We lost Vietnam..yes..wasn't our war to begin with...we were there with France and the pansies pulled out and we have yet to really cut lose on someone with full American fury.....I would love to see the type of victory America would have if we unleashed the military without restraint
We won Korea
We won the war of 1812 against the British again after kicking your @ss out of America for the 1st time.
As for Iraq we won flat out.(both times by ourselves).now we are trying to hold country together so the Iraqis can take over but we did win (peacekeeping is not a war)
We won in Afganistan
Maybe you should learn what a war is and brush up on history

Yes Our Military is the most powerful but we have put on it the heaviest regulators in the world.
If our military had taken its leash off and not try to fight a PC war.
Vietnam would have been over in the matter of months.
Iraq would be a done deal.
We have too many here think that war is suppose to be faught by Queensberry rules. When you do that more troops die than they have to and that is fact.
As far as going to England and starting a war. Kind of dumb because right now we have people who are hell bent on killing us both and that being the Muslims. You should know that after the London Bus bombings.

First off,JIBBA JABBA,not everyone on Yahoo! answers is american.I am neither american or british.I'm jamaican.I would say that the british army is better trained and fights better(suffers less casaulties) than US troops.
As for "taking out" England "I HATE LIBERALS"..any country with 600 (make that 700) LARGE (>250kt) warheads (nuke) can "take out" 80% of US missile silos and bomber bases(Minot AFB,Malmstrom AFB,Warren AFB,etc..).England with about 200 warheads would (thereotically)if attacked by the US most likely launch a CV instead of a CF strike "taking out" about 20-25% of US population. You dont need to destroy a country 20 times once is enough :).Try playing DEFCON.
The british also helped develop allot of america's weapons and the british ARMY has pretty good small arms now like laser-guided top-attack RPG's,they just don't like thousands of nukes like USA.
P.S. 94000 sq. miles is not a "small island"

The only kind of person who would say this is someone who is ignorant. Post WWII, England's military was comprised of loaner boats from the U.S. and loaner tanks from the U.S.
I don't know why you feel so boastful, but England and the U.S. are allies because they have common goals, not because we brag about who's better. Check the link for the amounts that the biggest countries spend on the military. Once you do, maybe you'll realize that the U.S. Military is too big, and kicks too much butt, and maybe needs to be scaled down so we don't intimidate everyone on the face of the planet and are not the world's foremost superpower. NOT!

VietNam was considered a military stalemate and a diplomatic success overall so that's not a valid point. Besides, the modern military in America is vastly different than in previous wars. Apples and oranges.
A sad fact is that this war in Iraq is not being prosecuted to the fullest extent we are capable of mounting. If we released the hounds, the whining and schoolgirl like screaming from all over the world would be deafening. It makes little difference if you like it or not, we have the capability to rain down horrible destruction at will on any target we choose. Whether we choose to or not is a different story.

The American Revolution, the War of 1812, Mexican-American War, Civil-War, Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, Korean War, the Cold War, and Desert Storm.
--
And your the uneducated one here sir. We were winning Nam but it wasnt our fight and the media made it look like the Americans were murdering people left and right over there so we withdrew after we signed the peace-treaty, Paris Peace Accords (Look it up), saying that the North wouldnt invade the South. But after America left, the South's government and econemy didnt know how to survive w/o the American bases so it crumbled, and the North took over.
Sorry to break it to you, but we won Operation Iraqi Freedom already. We met all of our objectives; we went in, destroyed their military, took out their leader, took over the country, and set up a new government w/ its own militarial force. Now its time that we leave and let the Iraqis fight the Insurgents by themselves; because we completed our job and we cant do everything for them. America is starting to get involved in their Civil War, and we need to pull out, because we already won the real war.
As for your Brits being so much better; who beat you in the Revolution and the War of 1812? America. Who had to save your @ss in WWI? America. Who would be speaking German right now because Hitler invaded their little island? Ameri..Wait no, this one is Britain.
As to taking out your "country"; (hard to call a little island a country) we wouldnt have to invade. We have enough firepower sitting there in the ocean to take out your coutry, literally, 20 times over. Destroying every town and city; we could do all of that in less than half an hour, LITERALLY.
We have a 2.3 million man Army, and you have..what? 800,000 tops? Come on, your country is an ISLAND and its been around for a long @ss time. America has been here for 230 years and is somewhere around 400 times the size of yours.
You should stop your b!tching and be thankful that America saved your @ss in WWI and WWII. Without America who knows where you would be; Im thinking somewhere along the lines of, Ich Specke Deustche?
