Our wedding is in July and we need to figure out how we want the ceremony to go. Do you have any good ideas or know of any good resources for them?

I used a book called The Knot Guide to Wedding Vows and Traditions and it help alot. After reading through sample ceremonies and vows, I hammered out a rough draft that same night. Good Luck!

You need to decide on where you want the wedding to take place & then find an officiant. Do you want a traditional ceremony? Special songs or readings? Any other ceremony element?
What do you want to say to your guests & each other. Would you like the wedding address about a particular subject like the meaning of marriage or family or love?
How can you make this ceremony yours?

Some churches limit what you can or can't have in your ceremony. Like the use of secular music or even the unity candle. You need to talk with the church clergy before signing any contract.

If you are having your wedding elsewhere, find an officiant by typing into your search engine your city, state & wedding officiant. Or you can go to some of the bridal sites. But some of those sites charge the vendors & officiants for your info, so you may not hear back from some. If you find one you think you would like, visit their site.

There are many good books as well. Visit your library.

Ceremony structure is something that can be discussed with your officiant. As far as hynms or order of ceremony is concerened, I do not know of a website that has examples. Do what I did, find booklets from weddings that you attended and use them as an example. My wedding booklet is a combination of my cousin and my sister's weddings. All I did was change a few things and there u have it.

If this does not work for you, try searching for it on google.

Good luck!!

Before you put forth the effort of designing your wedding ceremony, talk to whoever is officiating the wedding.

Depending on your pastor/priest/church, you might be very limited in what you can change and do, and will have to stick with the standard wedding, with a few personal choices for readings thrown in.

Go to www.abcustom.com and click on planning tools and then ceremony. There is a guide that can help you structure and design the ceremony.
