Just wondering, because they are a few million years old, and well, according to Christains, the Earth is only about 5000 years old.
The Bible was written before Dinosaurs were really discovered, so it makes sense that this story wouldn't think that there was any evidence of life before God "created" humans. That totally blows the cover off the thing, doesn't it? It was also before any scientific evidence of evolution, because back then, they really didn't have the technology. It's such a BS story, and I don't get how people can believe in it.
One other thing. In the Bible, God and Jesus work with people, they talk to them, they do things for them, they help them. Now-a-days, it's seems as if there is no God or Jesus talking to us, or helping us. Have they given up on us? If they were so willing to participate with humans back then, why don't they do it now? God sent angels down that talked to people and such, but nothing now?
I think the "Bible" is what it says, "Buy Bull"

Okay, a little background info on me...I was a Christain for 16 years of my life. I believed strongly in God, but started to notice that he wasn't really there. So now I don't believe. I do now what I'm talking about, I've read the Bible so many times. When I look back on it now, it seems so stupid and contradicting. I just want to know why Christains only take the word of the Bible and dismiss other scientific evidence, such as evolution (not mainly about us from monkeys), but will believe in other things. I know fossils are everywhere, so it's obvious. No one here has given me a good solid answer, only--the book says this, the book says that. Well, scientists can give you facts and evidence, the book is just words on paper, no proof.

Oh, and I guess I should've mentioned, I do believe in a creator. I do not believe in the "God" in the Bible or Christain faith. I think that there are too many religions and opinions to believe in just one. I also don't like how corrupt the church is. Remember when they made up purgatory so people would give them money so they can have a "ticket" out? Yeah, that whole 95 These thing. I don't like the idea of being told what to believe, I like being open to what I want. This question wasn't really to get people to yell at each other, I was merely curious.

Most Christians believe in dinosaurs. Like most other Christians, Jehovah's Witnesses are absolutely *NOT* Creationists. Witnesses believe that the universe, planets, and earth itself must be untold millions of years old.
While Jehovah's Witnesses do not pretend to be privvy to the particularities of exactly how the Almighty created the spirit realm or the physical universe, they do note that the creation account in Genesis uses an interesting phrase: "[created] according to its kind".
According to Hebrew scholars, the term “kind” here means a created or family kind, but with those terms' older traditional meanings and not the modern scientific nomenclature of organisms. That seems to indicate that each general family organism "kind" was directly created, rather than allowed to evolve from a previously existing "kind".
There is no reason to assume that interesting "in between" or so-called "almost there" fossils are not simply extinct species in their own right. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the bible is in complete agreement with true science.

I am a Christian and I believe in Dinosaurs and that the Earth is 2 billion years old - and neither of those things are opposed to God or make him any less.
Many people believe that the Earth is only 6,000 years old because they think the metaphorical "days"that the the BIble says the Earth was created in are 24 hours. The Bible also says a day is like a thousand years to God. God 's days are not our days - I think this creates a sense of time. I cannot be disputed that there were dinosuars and the long geologic age of the Earth.
But God did create it all and this disagreement does not lessen who he is or his work.
I am sorry that you feel the way you do about the Bible. There is SO much in there that speaks to us, including Jesus words on life and purpose, and loving others. The fact is that God is at work every day - just look a little harder. You have to have a heart of faith to hear.

The part about the interaction between God and humans you are talking about accurred in a different dispensation or era. I used to wonder the same thing myself. My mom has a friend who is a devout Christian and has read the Bible so many times she doesn't know how many times she's read it and really studies Christianity and other religions from a theological, academic perspective, without any "blinders" on. She told me this.
Regarding the dinosaur comment. The Bible, I believe, says that "years" to us may not be the same as "years" as far as God's "timeline". Therefore, we can still believe in dinosaurs.
I am a Christian, but I'm not really into organized religion. I just don't believe in having to "join" a certain church or denomination when some put restrictions on who/where you can/can't take communion or worship, if you can/can't drink alcohol. I don't believe in those kinds of "rules". That's why I'm not a Bible expert. I see it more as a guideline that has been written and interpreted by man. It's most important to have a good heart and care for others and live by example.

The bible never gives the age of the earth. I'm a christian and I believe dinosaurs walked the earth. Science proves it.
Heck, the bible even talks about the behemoth, leviathan, and a fire breathing dragon (read Job using an accurate translation.)
While I'm at it, there were angel half-breeds or giants if you're less likely to believe the supernatural.
Moses wrote that the world was created in six days but whether or not he meant a literal six days that's up for debate. I tend to think of them as ages.
In the first age this, in the second age that, I think the Jewish word for day in that book does mean age actually...
If you believe the bible then you believe the flood. Who knows how long humanity existed before the flood. Moses just pretty much summarized everything he knew. The ancient world is being discovered little by little by archieologists all the time. I believe our recorded modern history seems to go back 5000-6000 yrs because of the flood covering everything up. I'd be excited to hear when a scientist digs up a pre-flood civilization, I think that would be keen...
If a christian says the world is 6000 yrs old then tell them to prove it using scripture. If they can't then don't listen to them.
God gave us a brain and we should all use it, including christians. God created a physical universe of order. The scientific method works pretty good in a physical world.
Like I always say, the bible is about the history of Jesus and the events leading up to his death. It was not meant to be a scientific manual or an exhaustive essay on world history.

Dear Mr. M:
I am saddened by your hopelessness.
May I humbly point out a thought, or 2?
Who says the earth is only 5,000 years old?
Not the Bible.
According to Genesis 1:2, the materials that went into forming the earth already existed when Genesis starts.
Did dinosaurs exist? Of course.
Are they mentioned in the Bible?
No. Although Genesis 1:21 uses the general term "great monsters."
Why doesn't the Bible mention them more directly?
The Bible, like any good book, has a theme. Dinosaurs have nothing to do with the theme.
You'll note the yellow belly sap-sucker is not mentioned either.
This does not indicate any lack on the part of the Bible.
And you are right ...Jesus did spend 3 1/2 years showing interest in mankind.
What about today?
1 John 5:19 says the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
This is Satan's world. It certainly reflects a devilish influence, wouldn't you say?
That's why Jesus said his true followers would "be no part of the world." John 17: 14,16.
What is Jesus doing today?
Overseeing the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14.

If you really are serious to know what (most) Christians believe concerning Dinosaurs go to www.drdino.com- read Kent Hovind's take on the whole thing. Also, Jesus (God) is here on the earth now in a very real way- throughout history many people have had a hard time seeing God for who He is even when he is right in front of them. Jesus even confronted his disciples and basically said, "Hello, I have been with you all this time and you STILL don't know who I am!" He wasn't even addressing non-believers but his own disciples!!! If you really are interested in what God is doing these days talk to a Christian or go to church and I'm sure someone can testify to what Jesus is doing on the earth, today.

Because in 1962 they took the Bible out of US schools children today have grown up without any one ever suggesting that evolution is not the only option. You have been brain washed because you have only been given one side of the story. You make the statement that dinosaurs are millions of years old. Are they? That is the question and to date that "fact" that you have been taught from childhood has never been poven.
Have you ever noticed that evolutionists come on YA and assert how much proof there is for evolution, BUT have you ever seen any of that proof ever posted? When I have asked for proof the evolutionists and athiests just come on and tell me how stupid I am, but they never give me the evidence that they supposedly have.
EDIT: If you have read the Bible so many times, why do you think that dinosaurs are not mentioned in it?

"This story," the Bible contains many stories my friend, and there are a few that mention creatures that would clearly be dinosaurs.
The Hebrew word for "day" actually refers to a non-specific time period or age. Therefore, it's a misconception that Christians think the Earth is only 5,000 years old.
The Bible is a group of stories about God interacting with humans. Dinosaurs or their history would have no place in that. If the Bible was a complete history of human life, we wouldn't be able to lift it.
You're not hearing them speak because you're refusing to listen and see those of us that are trying to represent them (another clear idea found through out the Bible). Reading the material you're criticizing may help you make more accurate arguments in the future.
You opinion is duly noted. Luckily guys like Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandella didn't share your views and the world benefited by it.

I believe that what Job describes is dinosaurs. I am a Christian and believe in them. Not all of us agree with the young earth age. The Bible talks about blood being needed and flowing for life. This was before modern science discovered this. God still sends angels today. And God will still help If we seek and listen to Him.

slam dunk. i knew this kid in college who refused to do a calculus problem because it referred to radioactive decay on dinosaur fossils. He said "I do not believe in this question since the earth and universe are only 6000 years old". what an idiot. What would you think if institutions like MIT, Harvard, Johns Hopkins and Stanford all dismissed fossil records and evolution? Give me a break. Why do you think the smartest people in this country dont believe in religion? Because there is not only NO PROOF of their fables, but there is AMPLE EVIDENCE that directly contradicts and clearly dismisses it as delusion.
So I would say most christians believe what that kid in my *Honors* calc 2 class said: "Radiocarbon dating and fossil records of dinosaurs are fake and a sham and were invented by scientists and atheists to destroy the Christian religion."
