Cocoa butter works. It takes a while, and you have to use it often. I burned my arm with boiling water and i only have a tiny scar now, when I should have one that takes up a big portion of my arm.

Use Maderma. It actually makes the scar less noticeable. I've used it and it works. It does cost almost $20 though.

A lot of people swear by "Firming Cocoa Butter Lotion". Women often use it after pregnancy to fade C-section scars and stretch marks. It seems to have worked for my sister.

My plastic surgeon insisted on palmers cocoa butter cream a night, to keep it soft. it sometimes takes a year or more for a scar to do its thing... as far as how big and how much it fades. it the mean-time if it on a place for everyone to see, of course you a little make-up... you can have it surgically retouch if it doesn't fade enought o suit you... I have had this done with great results... hope this helps...
