I had a wisdom tooth and I'm taking antibiotics prescribed by the dentist. I just took a pill and tried taking a one-a-day women's vitamin a minute later. Now I feel extremely nauseated.

Was this a bad thing to do? What can I do to get rid of the nausea?

I did have breakfast (bowl of oatmeal) this morning and ate a pouch of baked apple fruit crisps before I took the pills. I think the dentist's office is closed today.

Yuck, I'm never do this again!

hmm, sometimes vitamins can do that anyway. Back off of those for a couple of days. Antibiotics also cause a lot of people to have nausea.

I had to start taking vitamins about every 3 days or they nauseated me. I take very powerful vita-power vita's though. I can not take antibiotics.

I don't think there is a drug reaction, just relax, and make sure you eat before taking them. Also, I would recommend not taking your vitamins for a couple of days till the antibiotics are gone. If both make you partially nauseated, then both together will surely make you sick. Bare in mind also, the vitamins are not drugs

I'm sorry you feel bad. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm not a doctor, but I don't know of any bad interaction between an antibiotic and a vitamin pill. Have you taken this antibiotic before? Do you have any allergies?

Did you take them on an empty stomach? Next time, try drinking a little milk or eating yogurt before you take the pills. You might try waiting an hour or two between the prescription and the vitamin.

If the nausea gets worse or doesn't get better in an hour or so, call the dentist.

The two together should not have any side effects however, if you took them both on an empty stomach that is probably why you feel nauseated. Eat some toast or crackers and lie down for a bit and that should end the nausea. If you still don't feel comfortable then call your local pharmacist and they can tell you for sure what the effects will be from mixing the two. Happy New Year and I hope you are feeling better soon.

Did you eat breakfast? I always feel kind of sick if I take a vitamin or antibiotics on an empty stomach. Try drinking some juice.

well to tell you the truth you arent suppose to mix any pills unless you have told your doctor about it because of the combo of those pills might cause some unwanted side effects....like nausea and headaches...lets see to get rid of the nausea either you wait untill the pills pass through your body..or you could suck on a peppermint ball *shrugs*

could be the vitamin. Some don't mix well with Rx medications. Also could be just the vitamin alone. Might want to skip it until your meds. are gone.

depends on antibiotic
next time take an antacid like omeprazole too
nausea was due to acidity likely
