Try a Sandals resort. We are going to the one in Ocho Rios, Jamaica in June so I can't tell you personally anything about it but I know many people who have done the Sandals thing and I have heard nothing but good things. Their is also so much to do. They have many activities on the actual resort and they also have things that you can do in the town like swimming with the dolphins or stingrays, boats, waterfalls, all kinds of stuff. Since their resorts are for couple only you will not have to worry about somebody elses obnoxious children ruining your trip. And you will probably meet other couples and get to hang out during the week. It sounds like fun and my fiance and I cannot wait to go. Oh yeah it was also very reasonably priced. With all the different levels of rooms to choose from its great. We also set up a wedding website on weddingchannel.com and we put Sandals on our gift registry so that our guests can contribute if they would like. Good Luck!

Mainland: Mendocino, CA--Perched on coastal headlands it is a quaint little town (a la New England) with beautiful ocean vistas, train rides through the Redwoods, an incredible Botanical garden and a number of Bed & Breakfast Inns. Best time to go is late spring or early summer.

Island: Kauai, Hawaii--weather is tropical but not too steamy. The water is gorgeous.

Go to http://www.love.allabouthoneymoons.com they can plan any type of trip not just honeymoons. If you tell them what you like and your budget they will plan the perfect trip for you.Best of all if you use there service to book your trip there service is free b/c the fee is paid by the hotel, cruise line or resort. As for your $5000 budget they planed a trip to the Rivia Maya/Mexico just outside of cancun for my wife and I. It was GREAT!!!!

St Maarten was amazing, and St. Lucia is suppose to take your breath away. Sandals resorts are all inclusive, couples only. Great resorts, but don't go to Montego Bay Jamaica Sandals. They are renovating.... (they don't tell you that)
