Who own dogs that have a pit fighting history to complain about how their breed of dog is persecuted against? I own a dog that had a pit history long ago, an Akita. I understand though that people who own dogs that dont have a fighting history could be scared of my breed of dog. You always hear of Pit Bull owners especially complaining about how there breed of dogs are persecuted but (And this is the question) Should they have an open mind and understand why people are scared. Should the Pit bull owners and Rottweiller and Akita etc be more understanding?

The truth is that ANY breed of dog can be aggressive when not treated correctly. I think owners of pitts, rotts, etc. are just frustrated because the public in general sees their breed and says "killer!" and doesn't think beyond that. The media hypes this up too. remember the 6 week old pit bull puppy accused of eating a babies toes off recently? I mean, at 6 weeks old, the puppy would have to have been chewing on the babies toes for a week nonstop to actually remove them. Then there is the question of the parents. WHY was the child left alone long enough for ANY animal to chew it's toes off. The media immediately called for the death of this innocent puppy. PEOPLE are to blame for MOST cases of aggressive dogs. I think owners of these "notorious" breeds are just tired of their breed being misunderstood. Poodles, chihuahuas, etc are way more prone to snap and bite, btu because they are small people don't consider them aggressive. So no, I don't think the owners of Pits, Rots, and akitas should be more open minded. I think the pyblic in general needs to be better educated about these breeds.

I owned a wolf crossbreed, he was treated as dangerous too. Even something as simple as a rabies shot was a big deal with him because of his breed.

Owners of ANY pet need to understand their pet and the social situation involving societies idiotic prejudices. They also need to understand that their pets have certain natural tendencies. Pit Bulls, Akitas or wolves, along with Doberman Pincers and many other breeds frighten people. It isn't the dog's fault but you have to take it into acount every day, no matter what the truth is.

I understand what you're asking, and yes I do think that owners of these breeds need to be a little more understanding of why people are nervous of them.

Their best bet would be to get involved in changing these misconceptions. Show the dogs off in obedience classes! Take them to a show ring! Make everyone one around aware of how gentle and loving they can be!

But unfortunately, we live in a society where most people could care less about understanding where someone else is coming from.

well i for one want to be honest and yes I am scared to walk by a pit bull they are known for agression against other animals and people i have also witnessed an attack of a pit bull on an animal control officer . This is not a pretty sight and i just do not want that happening to me or one of my family members . I mean if you know you have a dog with an agression history you should at least muzzle it if you are going to walk it in a neighborhood where there are children or small animals present . Is that too much for an agressive type dog owner to understand ? It also protects them from being sued because of an attack. Think about this .

i don't think that its fair that when somebody looks at a pit bull there first thought is stay away it might bite but if you think about it a dog such as a Labrador was sitting outside a shop or something people would probably assume that it is good natured and it should be OK to go and stroke it but its not because Ive seen a vicious Labrador before. So you cant judge it by what it looks like because that is rubbish. Its the people that it lives with who makes the dog vicious or good natured.

I'm just sick and tired of my dogs being put down because of what they are.My dogs are dogs . Be it APBT or not. Every day they have to fight for their rights ,I have to protect them from humans who would just assume them to be destroyed because of the breed of dog they are.Why should I have a open mind when automatically the public thinks omg a Pit Bull ,it's a demon dog. Both of my dogs deal with this every day. The media has done this to this breed.I'm sick and tired of all this media hype and bsl. It's Pit bull genocide.

Go to this web site called workingpitbull.com . On there you'll see working pitty law dogs and read their stories , and other heart breaking stories of Pitty abuse.

So no I don't have a open mind when the public would assume to see my dogs destroyed because of them being APBT.

Being scared of an animal, and trying to enact laws to ensure those animals never exist is a very wide gap.

I'm afraid of snakes, but I'm not out trying to ban people from owning them. Nor do I go around telling people that snakes eat children, or will turn and strangle their owners.

I used to stay in a house with a condo around the corner. that they had a chain link fence around the entire factor so there replaced into no separation of back and front yards. you besides would had to open the massive driveway gate to head into. A kinfolk rented the abode and moved in with 11 pit bulls. 3 adults and eight puppies. It replaced right into a great nuclear kinfolk that saved turning out to be and bringing the canines. I had canines myself and replaced into comfortable with theirs, different the how would that they had. The mama canines replaced right into slightly unpredictable and the un neutered male extensive and aggressive at instances. We had many problems with the canines getting out and wandering and that they have got been very lax approximately administration. On Christmas day I heard terrible screams and help, help me from out front. I ran out and there replaced right into a 12 y/o boy mountaineering on good a vehicle screaming. i ran over through fact the vendors have been grabbing the canines at that factor and the canines knew me besides. This youngster had long previous into the backyard and knocked on the door. The canines went by way of the reveal screen and out the gate after him. He replaced into stupid to flow in yet have been there in the previous and concept the canines could be attentive to him i assume. He have been ripped open on the interior his thigh perchance and inch from his scrotum. Plus distinctive different wounds. They did chew forged and desperate purely 2 canines had bitten him. there have been purely the three adults and an 8 month previous puppy on the time. The seized the canines for quarantine and after allowed all of them back abode. Thats once I have been given somewhat in contact. The male have been given out purely approximately daily and the vendors did not something. Pit bulls are not somewhat the subject as you stated, its the vendors. The male canines proprietor screamed at me that I purely hated him and did not choose him to have a canines b/c wanted him to maintain the male interior the fence or on a lead. How nuts is that? I had massive canines of my own so it replaced into'nt the canines I had a situation with . not until they proved to be a situation besides. I had a dalmation that became psyco and bit two times in the previous I had positioned down. The vet stated he had some form of genetic illness. I enjoyed him yet additionally could not endanger others.
