After drinking a cup or two of coffee, I find that I have to run to the bathroom. Is this normal? I really love coffee and would hate to give it up.

Hello
Depending on how big or small the cups you are drinking. Coffee contains caffeine which cause urination. Coffee is a diuretic. Diuretic: tending to increase the excretion of urine.

Ingesting this diuretic would explain why you go to the bathroom as frequently as you do. Make sure at some point during the day you are drinking water to counter the loss of water to your system which can lead to dehydration.

Suggestion: try to drink coffee in parts (what I mean is try not to drink a lot of coffee all at once) this may help with the frequent urintation. Check out the website for more information on this topic

Hope this helps

Yes it is, and for many people moderate coffee drinking for this reason is not a bad thing.

Just remember that, as a diuretic it actually takes water out of the body, so you need to drink about two cups of liquids for every cup of coffee to stay properly hydrated.

The drug caffeine which is found in coffee is a diuretic meaning that it will purge the fluid from your system. Another side effect of caffeine is that it decalcifies the bones which is an important issue concerning women, especially those at risk with osteoporosis. You may also want to monitor the caffeine intake to ensure that you don't develop a dependency, this is especially important with those that my have heart disease. However, coffee like tea has associated health benefits and if you use dairy creamer with your coffee, you can replace the calcium your body loses. As with all things, moderation is the key.

Yes- caffenine in coffee makes you use the bathroom.

250-300 mg of caffeine per day is considered a moderate amount. This is roughly equivalent to the amount of the drug found in three 8 oz cups of coffee. Consuming in greater than ten 8 oz cups of coffee a day is considered excessive. Caffeine poisoning from consuming excessive amounts has occurred.

Caffeine is absorbed and distributed quickly. Once absorbed, it passes into the central nervous system, stimulating it and producing the well-documented effect of alertness. Excessive caffeine intake though, can lead to a fast heart rate, excessive urination, nausea and vomiting, restlessness, anxiety, depression, tremors, difficulty sleeping, loss of calcium and potassium resulting in a longer recovery after exercising.

Yes. At least for me it works. I love it when I must go to the bathroom and I also quite like coffee so I don't mind going to the bathroom. Coffee takes out the toxines in your body, so don't be alarmed.

Yeah, I have had the same experience. Especially drinking more than one cup. I love coffee, with cream and sugar but it makes me have the runs. I have recently saw a commercial for coffe for sensitive stomachs made by folgers. But yeah, it is normal.

The caffeine in coffee makes people have to pee.

There is some other chemical in coffee, even in decaf, that irritates the digestive tract. In the short-term it has a mild laxative effect, but in the long-term can be harmful. http://www.helpforibs.com/news/newsletter/greekfish121703.html#askheather

Also, coffee, both regular and decaf, has been found to contain compounds that prevent colon cancer.

Coffee is a natural diuretic, therefore, you will have to go to the restroom often. Or at least, a lot of people do.
