It is not overly good for them, but: yes, they can.
I had one who really liked chocolate. But not just like that. She liked to lick it off my fingers when it was melting!!!
AND it didn’t kill her. She was 20 when she died!

YES they can eat Chocolate but they shouldnt!!!!!!!!!
Even in relatively small amounts chocolate is poison to cats and dogs. Chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine, two different types of stimulants that affect the central nervous system and the heart muscle, as well as increasing the frequency of urination. For a cat or dog to lick the remains of an ice cream from a bowl is unlikely to cause any harm at all unless the animal has a specific medical condition already.
However, if the animal was to eat a larger quantity of chocolate he may become very sick indeed and develop vomiting or diarrhea. When the amount of chocolate eaten is excessive, symptoms can include restlessness, hyperactivity, muscle twitching, increased urination and/or excessive panting. White chocolate has the least amount of stimulants and baking chocolate or cocoa beans have the highest. A better idea is to buy chocolate drops which are made specifically for pets, as they will not harm your pets' teeth.

Just because certain foods, such as chocolate, are enjoyed by us
humans and are perfectly safe for us, it does not mean they are
suitable for cats. Chocolate contains chemicals which rarely
cause problems for humans, but for cats and other domestic pets, these
chemicals can, in rare cases, be deadly.
One problem is that cats in general find chocolate very tasty and
so, it is important not to feed it to them, otherwise they will eat
what you give them up to the point where it poisons them.
Chocolate contains the compound theobromine which is a diuretic
as well as a cardiac stimulant. This can cause the pet's heart rate
to increase or it may cause the heart to beat irregularly, both of
which can be dangerous to the animal. The level of theobromine present
in chocolate varies depending on the type of chocolate. For example,
dark chocolate contains higher levels than milk chocolate and so could
pose a greater risk to your pet.
There are many problems that can result from feeding a cat
chocolate. Chocolate is relatively high in calories so it can contribute to
the development of obesity in your cat. A cat can lose its
appetite for it's normal food if it eats chocolate. The largest problem is
though the fact that chocolate contains the chemical theobromine
as mentioned above. If this chemical builds up in the cats system,
it can be potentially lethal, and one reason for this is that cats
cannot clear theobromine from their bodies as quickly as people can.

Most animals are alergic to chocolate, this includes cats and dogs.
Of course there is a possibility that your cat is not alergic to chocolate, but it would be a very bad idea to test that.
I'd say keep it away from chocolate.

First off why would you even consider feeding a cat chocolate?
No, chocolate is poisonous to cats. If you give a cat chocolate knowing this then you are abusing your cat.
The laws are becoming stronger and people are being fined and jailed for animal abuse. Don't go there.....

Chocolate is poisonous for dogs. To be on the safe side, I don't allow my cats to have it, either. Unfortunately, both of my cats are "chocoholics" when it comes to "chocolately" drinks like chocolate milk, chocolate-flavoured Slim-Fast, etc. They actually knock over furniture to get to such beverages and you can't pop the top of a Slim-Fast can without them both showing up. You can pop any other top, but pop a SlimFast top and they're onto it..
I don't allow them to consume anything chocolate-flavoured at all (and I don't allow them to have dairy products, either!), but they like it so much that they spill my drinks to lap it up before I can get to them sometimes.

No chocolate for cats. you may receive a loose education guide of stuff undesirable for cats to devour on the link lower than. also a video from the ASPCA related to poisonous substances. you'd be shocked a what can damage your kitty -- or canines.
