YOU will not have a problem finding a traveling partner. Your BEST FRIEND is on the road, or will be when you are also. You will meet someone guaranteed. I wish I were younger, now I am old enough to be your Dad, hahaha . When I was your age, I left the USA for a short trip to Europe, 4 months with $250 to travel on. I did nt come home for 2 years! Meet people, made friends got odd jobs, traveled to 21 countries, as far south as Tanzania.
Those were the good ole days. Travel in Africa was down to 10cents a day. of course I rode my thumb, hitch hiked, slept in Church's, missions, temples, police stations, and on the beach.
Your life is about to open up to a new world, and you will make many new friends. God be with you, ENJOY

Go on your own. You will meet people along the way. Just be sensible and take the same safety precautions you would at home (e.g. stay in well lit crowded areas at night, don't get drunk etc).
