Rozzel, in general people fear what they cannot explain or understand. If they cannot explain or understand it, then they fear they cannot control it. This goes for anything that falls in that category, not just holiness.
Jesus said, I think, something to the effect that it was difficult for a rich man to ever get into heaven. I think today he might add that its difficult for an intellectual to understand holiness or faith.
This is not to say the people here would all fall in the intellectual category, lol, as by their words they reveal themselves as fakes, but some are...and some intellectuals believe in God, while others want "proof".
For those who seriously are intellectual and want a dialog on proof verses faith, telling them what the Bible says is not going to be that proof and preaching at them will not either. For the intellectual, reaching "faith" is a personal journey and if they ask a question, please give them the best answer you can and with the understanding that reaching "faith" is difficult.
And for intellectuals who are seekers, as most intellectuals are, please understand that Christian intellectuals (yes there are many of them) do not see evolution or the big bang as evidence that God does not exist. They have already made peace with those things and incorporated them into their faith.
As to everyone else, pointing fingers, bashing people, calling them names and threatening them is not going to mean a thing to an intellectual...they just think you are pitiful.
If you remember these things, you can have a decent discussion in this forum...or for heavens sake, get together and make a chat room for lively debate.

I do not think that people are necessarily afraid of holiness but that they do not have the desire and will power to follow through and maintain a life of holiness. Many people like the idea of holiness, they want to be near it and be associated with it but to actually live it is another story.
I think each and every individual knows at some level inside themselves just what to be holy means. I also believe that everyone has to some degree the desire to be holy, to regain their original position with God or the Divine. What keeps us from pursuing this desire is that we allow ourselves to be mis-directed by the myriad of negative and dark influenes that we have to face every day. Instead we must remain steadfast on our path back to God. When we are steadfast it is difficult to be confused about our purpose.

Holiness can be a scary word- because no one except
God is completely holy. But when God sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins He placed within us the capacity to be holy as He is Holy. And for the record- Holy means "set apart". God sets us apart for His purposes. Holy does not mean pious men and women folding their hands all the time.

People are afraid of holiness , because they don`t have a recipe for being holy . People are also afraid of holiness , because they preffer living with and among sins and temptations , rather then being free of them .

I've read and reread your questions many times, out loud and slowly, and I still can't make sense of it. Nor am I clear on what your initial question has to do with the seemingly random words beneath it.
Can you clarify this?

Biblical holiness is manmade, true holiness is love of God and God's creations.

I don't believe that people are afraid of religion. I think that we've become a society that tries to shove religion down your throat, which goes against what this country was built on.
You have the right to freedom of speech and religion and politics, but when one group is constantly pushing themselves on the rest of society, I think it causes hostility against all groups.

Nobody should be afraid of holiness. It's just made up stuff. Nothing is really holy. People are just superstition, I guess.
