yes epidurals cause back pain. and you will have that for the rest of your life.

Probably not the epidural, two years later. You should go to the doctor, and mention the epidural, and see what they say. Babies get really heavy after carrying them around, maybe you just have back strain, or pulled a muscle, or arthritis. Definitely see a physican. Good luck!

yes sorry to say it definitely is the site of the epidural i had my first born 4 yrs ago and to ti=his day since i got it if the weather changes n since i live in ny york it gets pretty excruciating there is really nothing to do because ive tried popping pills fpr the pain and it didnt work but to get a little relief you can put a heatin padon your bak and it wont feel as bad but i guess this is the price us women have to go through to have a baby besides the labor.. best wishes hope you feel better...

p.s.
if the weather is good it wont hurt but as it changes such as rainy or real cold you will defintely feel it!

According to quite a few sources (including childbirth.com), there are quite a few. But keep in mind that this is highly generalized, and that many women had an epidural and did not suffer these consequences.

Although the backache you are experiencing seems to be one of the possible consequences of an epidural, and it can apparently last from a few weeks to a few years, so make sure you check with a doctor!

Here is the list I found of the possible consequences of an epidural:

Mother: Short term

Dural puncture
Hypotension (29%)
Nausea, vomiting, shivering (frequent)
Prolonged labor
Uneven, incomplete or nonexsistent pain relief
Feelings of emotional detachment
Respiratory insufficiency or paralysis
Convulsions
Toxic drug reactions (if applicable)
Slight to severe headache
Septic meningitis

Mother: Long term

Neurological complications
Backache (weeks to years)
Postpartum feelings of regret, loss of autonomy
Fecal and urinary incontinence or bladder dysfunction (inability to urinate)
Paresthesia ("pins and needles")
Loss of perineal sensation and sexual function

Baby

Direct drug toxicity
Fetal distress, abnormal FHR (can lead to emergency cesarean)
Drownsiness at birth, poor sucking reflex
Maternal fever (impeded thermoregulation from numb skin) leads to fetal hyperthermia and neonatal
NICU workup (spinal tap, etc.)
Poor muscle strength and tone in the first hours
Neonatal jaundice
Decreased maternal-infant bonding, behavioral problems
Hyperactivity up to seven years (suspected)

Good luck and I hope this helped!

I wouldn't think your back hurting has anything to do with the epidural so much as the pregnancy did and giving birth did and the stress of being a mom and the pressure to raise a respectable and responsible person. When you become a parent there is so much stress and worry that it does affect your body.

It may have caused damage to the spinal cord if the doctor/nurse placed incorrectly or it may just be the weather or you may have some other medical problem such as osteo-arthritis-Definitely check with your doctor

I'm not sure, but the spinal cord and the spine itself is a complicated structure. It has so many nerves, if I were you I would see the doctor immediately.
