We simply live in a very sorry and antagonistic world. Y!A is a shortcut to what people do and think in everyday's life without always having the guts to say it openly. So, they sort of steam-off here, short of having any other place to do so.

I look at Yahoo Answers as a place for mild enternainment and fun, a place to sometimes learn something, and best of all a place where you can help someone else in some way.
Unfortunately, it seems to be populated with a lot of sorry individuals who most likely have zero real-world social skills and no self-esteem. These people come on here to vent, and feel a little rush of power or some other kind of fulfillment from making comments they wouldn't otherwise have the courage to make. I feel sorry for them, when I'm not too busy thinking what a dumb@#$ they are.
I hope you find this to be a valid contribution. LOL.

The thing about answering questions is the more passion the person has and the less restrained they are in putting their view the more interesting they are. I like people with passion and the more easily offended people are often the more tender hearted people. Mind you even I don't like it when people are rude and swear whilst drinking Stella or eating a large red Chile. mwha ha ha ha (sorry)

People who answer questions that way are just looking for an anonymous outlet for their anger and frustrations and/or the two points. The only reason they don't act that way in the real world is because if they did, they'd be in a ton of trouble.

Well, the Yahoo Answers team have said that if you don't know the answer to the question, don't answer it, which makes sense to me. If I don't know the answer to the question, I don't respond, however, as sad as it is, certain people just answer questions "Because they can" and don't stop to think they may not be helping anybody with the trash they write!

This is very true, the asker may merely be wanting knowledge or to know other people's opinions but some people take offense to them and see it as personal that they have different beliefs. You feel like saying to them if you don't like people having different ideas, don't be here, I thought that this was what this site was for!!

On Yahoo Answers - or any other online site - it is easy to be rude and defensive towards other people because you are not face to face with them.
Most people would probably react differently in real life where they would have to stand up to defend and/or explain their remarks.

i think its because people who easily get offended, cant go out and talk to people outside, so they just stay indoors and answer questions, this way they can react without losing any friends etc.
