umption? They are debating now whether cloners should have to label the packages. They are going for no labels. How do you feel about the gov. making your decisions for you by genetic engineers, who sock the money to the government, to make decisions go thier way? Don't tell me this is the wrong catagory as Americans are christian voters, and the "what should I do guy" would be out in the cold.

Yes you ARE in the wrong category. But even if you don't think so I think you'd get better play/commentary over in the health section. That said, your statement is actually completely inaccurate. The government has passed no such law yet. Government scientists have determined the food is safe. However, that is merely a preliminary verdict and the FDA will now open a 90 day period for comments. After that they will discuss whether or not to require any special labelling, From where I sit though, it doesn't look like the special labelling is going to happen.

I agree with most of the other posters, but I didn't see this little factoid yet. . . I thought of this when I read that article. . .

Does anyone think it cruel to kill an animal that you raised from a petrie dish for the explicit reason to kill it and eat it? That to me is scary. This poor cow was some nerds science project and now it will be consumed. Not to mention the adverse affects it will have on generations to come! They'll clone animals for milk, cheese, eggs, ect. and all that stuff goes into our food whether we know it or not. How often do you think that an egg was in the bagel you ate or are you not thinking about the cheese on that burger (which hopefully is a real cow not a cloned one). Ick!

I'm sure this will cause birth defects or something in the future.

The shape says extremely some issues that have fallen out of style. Amendments could be made to the form. there became an modification outlawing alcohol and we are nevertheless eating because of the fact it became replaced. they might desire to amend the form and do away with weapons all at the same time. seem on the united kingdom. There gun homicide fee is fifteen circumstances under ours, and what a ask your self they have extremely some the strictest gun administration rules interior the international. maximum of their law enforcement officials do no longer even ought to hold weapons. whilst are human beings going to attain that extra weapons equals extra killing? The shooting that occurred in Connecticut did no longer ensue with an illegally gained firearm. The gun became legally bought with the aid of his be sure. And if that gun wasn't obtainable to him, this massacre won't have got here approximately. whilst he snapped he might have taken a knife instead, it is plenty much less stressful to guard against. maximum weapons used in crimes have been bought legally at one element or yet another. If we outlaw weapons and do like Australia did and purchase back the weapons already obtainable and ruin them, this united states could be plenty safer.

I think the "what shall I do guy" IS a clone anyway, lol.

The only thing I would be concerned about with cloned meat is to make sure that consumption of it long term is safe. Hopefully, cloning can bring the price down. Here in Kansas, they have already cloned cows, so that is nothing new to me.

I think genetic engineering, particularly stem cell research, which just saved the life of one of my dad's friends, is fantastic.

Cloned animals just seem weird because it is a new technology. I think though that they should label the meat, for people with concerns, with a sun downer clause that in three years they can decide whether to continued requiring labels, or if the public is fine with cloned meat.

So. You can't tell the difference even in a lab. Mostly the actual clones are for breading. It is way more expensive to make a clone cow, that get one the old fashioned way. so what they are doing is cloning the desirable breeders. Yet another example of evolution in action (with a lot of help from humans).

Whether Americans are Christian voters or not... this is still in the wrong category. :)

But to make a relevant point... you think it's wrong for genetic engineers to "sock the money to the government"... Now you know how the rest of us feel about fundamentalists doing the same thing.

It's so sick! Like we dont have enough slaughter houses in the US as it is. I stopped eating meat in Nov. while I was fasting....and just never picked it back up. But when I read that article on MSNBC yesterday, it just verified my reasons as to why Im choosing not to eat meat anymore. It's not like the meat packaging folks arnt pumping enough steroids, hormones etc. into all these animals (cows, chickens, pigs) Now they are just going to create a whole faux creature. It's just so sick!! Why do you think Americans are sooo overweight now? And Why do you think we have all these health problems that were never heard of back in the day....
Meat is just not safe, unless you can raise your own-this way you know whats going in them.

It's about time the government took care of this. I see no reason they should label it. Gengineered meat, sure, but straight up cloning? Let's get real here.
