I got Whitman's chocolate as a gift from a friend ... we are in our late 20's ... come on now. ... couldn't he at least spend the extra $2 and get Russel Stovers or something...

Last time I saw Whitman's chocolate was 20 years ago at my grandparent's house.

Do you all agree Whitman's is for the elderly and the cheap?

Guys don't know the difference with chocolates most of the time. You and I know that Godiva is what we'd really want but he might not know that Whitmans is cheap. In my opinion, chocolate is chocolate unless you get the really expensive kinds. He probably didn't want to dish out 60 bucks for a box of chocolates.

It's the thought that counts anyway, right? Just be thankful he thought enough to get you something. I didn't get anything from my "friends."

Both Whitmans and Russell Stovers are cheap and nasty If someone gave me that as a gift, I would feel deeply insulted. A small box of Godiva doesn't cost that much!

Actually, where I live Whitman's and Russel Stovers cost the exact same price. I think you should be glad that you have a friend that thought enough of you to get you a gift.

Not at all. It's the thought that counts and besides, Whitmans has some really good chocolate. The diagram in the lid to show you which pieces are which is pretty cool too!

Yes, it is less expensive than Russell Stover's but the quality is comparable. And, maybe that's all your friend could afford. It's a fool who measures the meaning of a friendship by the cost of a gift. Be thankful that you have a friend that was thinking of you for the holidays.

I certainly think it was the thought that counted. You certainly should stop Nickel and Diming when it comes to the holidays.

What did you get this friend in return?

You need to compare the gift you gave to the gift you received and then weigh the two.

If you gave him godivas and got whitmans...then you can complain.

I believe we need more detail on this question.

I cannot stand Whitmans. I don't like chocolate gewy, nasty and hard surprises in the middle of my chocolates. Ewwww I'd rather have a bag of Peanut Butter Cups.

Um, no. I personally love Whitmans and ask for one every year. I'm 32. And you should be more grateful that she thought of you....
