i cannot use sound recorder even after switching the recording device ?

The first thing you should do is increase the volume of microphone in volume control. then record the sound it will work.
try out this first if not
i think that your sound manager is not working. so you reinstall the software. and make clear tht you have connected your microphone to correct port

Check your soundcard drivers and your mic volume!!! and make sire you hit the right jack!!!
