Did they say it was okay for you to get mild exercise? That can help..otherwise, read an incredibly boring book (my history text book was a surefire cure for insomnia...but then again my husband would find it riveting, so to each his own!).
Doing Yoga a few hours before bed (again, doctor approved) relaxes me, but I think even just doing some deep breathing exercises could help.
Also, you should find a position that allows you to sleep slightly propped up (lieing on your back can cause coughing fits to be much worse)
Lastly, if it is safe for you, OTC gravol or name brand motion sickness pills have a tiring effect on a lot of people (when I'm stuck for sleep, I'll take two of those and I'm out for the rest on the night!)
Good luck!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Ask you doctor about Valerian Root ...it is an herb that helps with insomnia. You can also purchase it in the herbal form of Nytol but you must ask your doctor or pharmasicts first especially having heart problems and being on other medications.

Try using a humidifier in your room, it will bring up the humidity in the room and keep your throat from drying up.
You might try aromatherapy, with a chamomile candle burning before you go to bed or drink some of chamomile tea before you go to sleep.
Lavender lightly sprayed on your bed a couple of hours before you go to sleep works too.
Also ask your doctor about sleep apnea... when you wake up coughing, scared, anxious and have very small amount of sleep. There are remedies for that too.

See a different doctor and get a second opinion. The best way to clear the sinus is going through a medical procedure where they scrape it out from behing your forehead. It is a weird feeling, but it works. Good luck with it

If the sinus pills don't help go back to your doctor or get a second
opinion. It may be that your body will get over this naturally if given
time.

melatonin 3mgs...take 1 hour before bedtime. Sam's Club has a good OTC formula. Watch out for vivid dreams, but stay with it until your symtoms pass.

My mother has similar problems with nonstop coughing, but not from any sort of stress test. She takes allergy pills with ibuprofen -- the combination is said to make one drowsy. It also helps with her coughing a bit. She drinks lots of warm liquids and stays away from me (as I get really annoyed at the constant coughing). :)
